MIA FONSSAGRIVES SOLOW CONTEMPORARY SCULPTOR

Findlay Galleries is pleased to present the latest work from the internationally renowned sculptor, Mia Fonssagrives Solow: Robots/Femmebots. Solow is an internationally known American contemporary artist based in New York.

She is the daughter of renowned photographer Fernand Fonssagrives and super model Lisa Fonssagrives, as well as the step-daughter of photographer Irving Penn.

Cast in polished bronze and aluminum, Solow’s otherworldly works explore the nature of artificial intelligence. Harkening back to original African sculptures, Solow’s femmebots and robots stand as powerful masculine, feminine and alien totems of the new age. By translating notable figures from her life into android creatures—at times imposing and powerful, at others humorous and playful—Solow imbues each of her sculptures with a name, a story, and a personality.
