ORBITAL CANOPY Module System Design for OFS Brands. The concept was inspired by light. Light can be directional, comforting, and an attraction to the human eye. This design uses a series of movable fabric canvas fins to enclose a room for privacy or light control, when fins are closed they create a lounge bench on a platform. This design also includes a table that transforms into a chair, an inverse of the fins and as a metaphor of the solar system.

GARMENT DESIGN A garment to be design using design principles. This garment uses the floral theme to show fluidity, transparency and asymmetry. Using an overlay of mesh and tulle of different sizes, the dress creates contrast and opacity, as well as screening, which projects transparency through the dress. Empire line lengths and pleading offer a more dynamic composition. It demonstrate the movement firm two dimensional to three dimensional qualities within nature. The emphasis of the tulle, flowers and mesh intertwine to give a hint of seduction, romanticism and a feel of nature. Garment Inspire by Ellie Saab Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2016-2017. Ellie inspiration came from the heritage of is house gardens, as well as a byzantine influence.

WEAVING SPACES A workspace design based on OFS Brands’ work philosophy. The company is a deeply connected, family orientated corporation that emphasizes on their hard work and craftsmanship. The design offers energetic, and interconnected spaces that the employees of OFS Brands can enjoy while still maintaining functionality. The floor plan was organized strategically to accommodate every department’s needs. Managers, VP’s, and executives were placed close to their respective teams. Adjacencies were made with departments that worked closely together. Next, each department was zoned by walls carpet patterns in which the carpet starts to intertwine with transition and circulation zones to create soft boundaries. Moreover, partitions and furniture are used to define spaces, while also giving the company’s visitors an opportunity to see OFS Brands’ products in real world applications. The overall office space expresses connectivity to give the user a unique experience and reinforced the company values. Group Project w/ Anica Arias

Design meant to be pleasant to the eye but yet to allow the art to shine and be recognized along with the building. Focused on beauty, sophistication and connection. The design preserves history but transitions to contemporary design, creating a business environment, yet to provide comfort and welcoming feeling while housing art of all sorts to become one. The Venustas Hotel is an is inspired by the Dallas Bridges in which connect businesses, tourists, art, culture, education, residential and commercial life to become one. DN

The design will promote a sense of place and community by providing many opportunities to interact with other residents from within and outside of the community. This design transitions from traditional design to a contemporary aesthetic by providing a very clean and light look.

Design inspired by the essential materials used to build and mold concrete. Each material plays a different role, yet they come together as one to create a coffee table. A polygon geometry was applied to the concrete, which carries on to the hickory wood table top and follows on to the steel legs welded together. Polygons are used in a repeated pattern with a push and pull system throughout the concrete and table top. Femme Fatale is an arrangement of shapes closely fitted together. This creates an intriguing and seductive shape appealing to the eye. Despite the heaviness and brutal expectation, the table is redefined to a very smooth and clean finished.

DIGITAL FABRICATION

Sections & Surfaces A series of surfaces created by four curves to create a smooth curvature. Then section into ribs to create a structure in which all the ribs had slots at the intersection to create a stronger connection. Moving on to a surface that was section and flatten into 2D and still having a grid under to support the section surface. Lastly, a triangulated meshed surface was created in which the some of the pieces had tabs in the back for joinery, the grid support follow its triangulation and rigidity.

32

Contoured Surfaces A surfaces created with a smooth curvature but given a texture by CNC milling. The purpose was to create a geometry with the tools used and their over step. Keeping in consideration that the machine only runs in an X,Y,Z axis so any curvature caving in the surface wouldn’t be cut. During this project the class learned to use rhino-cam in which we set up our files to be sent to the CNC machine.
