J . L . Tu r n e r C e n t e r February Newsletter FiftyForward enriches the lives of adults 50+ by providing pathways to health, well-being, and lifelong learning. February 2015

Letter from the Director Dear FiftyForward Turner Center Members: It is such an honor to be serving as your Interim Director for the next few months. I will be here part time to assist you and the wonderful staff. Let me share a little about my history…I moved to Nashville from Johnson City to be close to my daughter. I was a Division/Department head for the City of Johnson City, serving as the Johnson City Seniors’ Center Director. I was given the opportunity to serve on the National Institute of Senior Center Delegate Council for several years, working with various teams, including involvement with the national senior center accreditation process and serving as a national peer reviewer. While serving as director, Johnson City was the first multi-purpose Senior Center to receive national accreditation in Tennessee. Please stop by during your next visit. Glenna Orr

FiftyForward Calls For Volunteers Did you know that every Ambassador who helps you sign up for a FiftyForward activity is a volunteer? And that the center activities are facilitated by volunteers? Did you know that almost all the FiftyForward trips you take are driven by a volunteer driver? Did you know that there are volunteers who work behind the scenes to make phone calls, do mailings, and computer work? FiftyForward would not

run as efficiently as it does without the tremendous force of volunteers that we have in the center EVERYDAY. If you have a passion that you want to share, a skill you want to maintain, or simply a passion for the mission of FiftyForward, please let us know. We will be happy to put you to “work” as one of our incredible volunteer force. We look forward to serving with you in 2015!
