The Arts at the Turner Center Bob Ross Painting Class: Thursday, December 3 at 9:30 a.m. Join certified Bob Ross instructor, Liz Farar for this interactive, casual 2 hour painting class. At the end of the class, everyone has a completed an 11 x 14 oil on canvas painting - all the same, yet all different. This is perfect for beginners, and experienced painters are welcome, too. Class cost $25 and includes all supplies!

Art One Day Workshop—Palette Knife Painting: Tuesday, December 15 at 10:30a.m. Forget using a paintbrush, have you ever tried painting with a knife? In this threehour workshop you will complete a guided winter themed painting using a palette knife, acrylic paint and texture medium. Class cost $25, includes all supplies!

Crafting with Candace—Sock Snowmen Friday, December 18 at 10:00a.m. Make an adorable snow man out of a couple of socks. So easy and adorable! Class cost $8—includes supplies.

Friday, December 4, 2015 at 9:00 am (CE) – “Nashville Nine” – Brian Tibbs, President of Historic Nashville, will discuss ongoing preservation activities of Nashville’s nine most endangered historic properties.

Friday, December 11, 2015 at 9:00 am (FF1) – "Rachel Jackson’s Hand Servant and the Hermitage’s Uncle Alfred” – Re-enactors Dr. Phyllis Freeman and Henry Jones will portray daily life at the Hermitage and will reveal many human interest stories about the Jacksons.

Friday, December 18, 2015 at 11:30 am (CE) – POTLUCK LUNCH – “Liberty and Law: The Magna Carta's Influence on the U.S. Constitution” – Ken Fieth, Metropolitan Government Archivist and Director of Metro Archives and Charter Member of the American Academy of Certified Archivists will discuss the Magna Carta. The Great Charter specified certain rights of individuals as subjects of a King. The principles behind these rights can be seen in the U.S. Constitution today.

The BH&G Group will not meet on Friday, December 25.

Hello FiftyForward Members: It is hard to believe that we are in the middle of the holiday season already! Time sure flies! I just want to make sure that everyone understands that once you are a member of the Bellevue Family YMCA, and are 50 years of age or older, you are automatically also a member of the FiftyForward J. L. Turner Center. And, we very much want you to join us for all our events and activities! I want to encourage each of you to continue to come into the Turner Center in the middle of the hustle and bustle in order to keep your health and well-being in the forefront. Besides the many exercise classes available to you, we have many wonderful social, recreational, and educational opportunities planned for your enjoyment. And, I want to thank you for your patience and support since the Turner Center has experienced a staff change. Candace and I are doing our best to provide you with exemplary service in this time of transition while being down a staff member.

We have created a questionnaire that we would like for each one of you to complete and return to us. We gave them to those that attended the Thanksgiving Luncheon, but only a few have been returned. If you received one, please complete it and return it to a staff member or Ambassador as soon as possible. If you have not gotten the questionnaire, please pick one up the next time you are in the Turner Center.

There are copies on the shelf under the My Senior Center kiosk, or you can pick one up from a staff member or Ambassador. These questionnaires are very important to us as we are trying to plan activities and events that you would like to see us host. Thank you for helping us with this!

Just a reminder that it is very important that you continue to scan in at My Senior Center (MSC) every time that you come into the Center, and that you indicate every activity that you are going to participate in that day. It is important that you also do this when you come to meet for day trips, On the Road with Joan trips, and other activities in other parts of the Center. If you experience trouble, please ask for assistance from one of our staff members or an Ambassador.

One other reminder, if you plan to participate in one of our planned activities/events, please sign up on the sign-up sheets on the tables in the lobby of the Turner Center, or email me or Candace and let us know that you plan to attend. This is especially important when the event involves food. And, if you find that you will not be able to attend as planned, please let one of our staff know as soon as possible, so that we will be able to plan accordingly.

Finally, I would like to ask you to review the new procedure for handling payments for On the Road with Joan trips that is explained in this newsletter. And, please note that we are still in desperate need for volunteers to serve in various capacities that are outlined in this newsletter. Please help us if you can!

Susan New Procedure for On the Road with Joan Trip Payments Beginning immediately, the Turner Center has instituted a new policy for how payments for On the Road with Joan Trips will be handled. Checks for payment for Joan’s trips should no longer be mailed to Joan Sincerbox. Instead, checks should be brought to the J. L. Turner Center and given to an Ambassador or Turner Center Staff Member. Or, checks can be mailed to the FiftyForward J. L. Turner Center; attn: Susan Dillingham; 8101 Highway 100; Nashville, TN 37221. All checks should be made payable to FiftyForward.

IMPORTANT MEMBER QUESTIONNAIRE We have created a Questionnaire that we hope that each Bellevue Family YMCA/FiftyForward J. L. Turner Center Member who is 50 years of age and older will pick up, complete, and get back to us as soon as possible. The Questionnaire was created in order to help us know what types of events, activities, and trips you would like to see us plan. And, it is an effort to inform you of the many volunteer opportunities that are available at the J. L. Turner Center. If you received a Questionnaire at the Thanksgiving Luncheon, please complete it and return it as soon as possible. If you have not received a Questionnaire, please see a Turner Center Staff Member or Ambassador, or pick one up from the shelf under the My Senior Center Kiosk in the Turner Center. Questionnaires can be returned to a Turner Center Staff Member or Ambassador once completed. Thank you very much for your participation in this important effort!
