What is Neuropathy? Causes and Treatments Sponsored by Williamson Medical Center

Wednesday, June 26 at 11:30 Topic: Neuropathy is a collection of disorders that occurs when nerves of the peripheral nervous system (the part of the nervous system outside of the brain and spinal cord) are damaged. The condition is generally referred to as peripheral neuropathy, and it is most commonly due to damage to nerve axons. Neuropathy usually causes pain and numbness in the hands and feet. Pain from peripheral neuropathy is often described as a tingling or burning sensation. There is no specific length of time that the pain exists, but symptoms often improve with time - especially if the neuropathy has an underlying condition that can be cured.

Beaded Bookmarks Give your time for a great cause

Thursday, June 20 and July 25 at 1:00 Instructor: Sherry Armstrong Sherry wants to ask you to volunteer your time to help make beaded bookmarks for the Center to sell. All you need to do is donate an hour of your time to help the Martin Center raise funds that will directly benefit our Center and our members. This beaded bookmark craft is easy and fun to make and you will be helping raise money for the Center. They will fit any theme just by changing the colors and shapes of the beads. The group plans to meet monthly. Supplies included.

The Avenue of Murfreesboro Tuesday, June 11. Leave the center at 9:00 Travel to Murfreesboro, TN to The Avenue. Enter two jealous husbands who have jumped to the wrong conclusion, add in an over-zealous hotel security guard and a scantily clad male model; and the comic chaos commences.

Cost: $35 includes ticket to play, van and boxed lunch.

Plein Aire In the Gardens Medium of your choice

Painting with “Winer’s” at Martin Friday, June 21 and Thursday, July 18 at 1:00 Bring your favorite beverage, a relaxed attitude, and paint a picture along with art instructor Barbara Bays. Watercolor Exploration with Barbara Bays Tuesdays at 1:00, six-week series begins Tuesday, June 11 through July 16 It is a “no more fear approach” to watercolor.

Tuesday, July 23, 30 and August 6 Instructor: Barbara Bays from 10:00 to Noon If you always wanted to learn how to paint in watercolor, here is a great way to get you started!

If you have always wanted to dip your brush in watercolor this is your opportunity. This is a basic watercolor class where you will learn to choose a basic watercolor palette, and learn about the features and benefits of watercolor brushes.

You will also learn to create a simple wash, wet on wet methods, and dry painting techniques and more.
