Discover and Explore Acrylic Techniques

Instructor: John Cannon 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month at 1:00.

Acrylic Painting Techniques. Learn how to use acrylic paints in a variety of styles. Techniques also include alternate surfaces and addition of mediums to acheive artistic effects. Instruction will also emphasize composition and values, as well as practical aspects of creating art. Cost: $30 per class or 2 classes for $50.

Oil Painting For All Thursday, June 4 at 10:00 Instructor: Barbara Bays Join us for this four-week session to lear n new ideas, techniques and enjoy fellowship with fr iends.

Lady Bugs Batik Boutique Ink pen and watercolor

Friday, July 24 at 10:00 Batik is a technique of wax-resist dyeing applied to whole cloth, or cloth made using this technique. Use your pen and ink watercolor talents to incorporate rice paper and wax. When the wax is applied and removed revealing a beautiful and unique look. Cost: $16 supplies included for members.

Tuesday, June 16 at 4:00 The Omni Hut was established in 1960. While traveling over a million miles as an Air Force pilot, the Chef continuously pursued his hobby of Poly-Asian cookery. Their recipes have come from many small obscure, owner operated restaurants from friends from Hong Kong to Panama from Hawaii to Alaska. The adventure of seeking out better recipes and palatable dishes continues. Leave FiftyForward Donelson Center at 7:30, followed by a pickup at the J. L. Turner Center at 8:00.

Our first casino is Fitzgerald's, where we will receive $5 coin and a lunch buffet. After 4 hours we go to Horseshoe for an overnight stay. There we will get $10 coin and an American breakfast. No dinner meal is included. The following day you will receive lunch at Sam's. Departure time from there is 3:00, arriving back at Turner approx. 8:00.

Wings Remembered Tour and Lunch Tennessee Aviation Museum

Tuesday, July 14 at 9:00 Charles Runion's Tennessee aviation museum is filled with what most folks would consider junk, but he's no hoarder. Wings Remembered is an unparalleled collection of mainly U.S. World War II artifacts recovered from crash sites and through donations of flight gear, uniforms, letters, diaries, medals and photos from the families of long-gone veterans. Cockpit sections, engine parts, a Norden bombsight and bombardier's compartment, rusty landing gear, crumpled wing and fuselage skins with insignias still visible. Runion has everything from a 12-foot-tall B-24 vertical stabilizer to an R-2800 valve rocker arm from a P-47 shot down during the Battle of the Bulge. Reservations required.

Movie Matinee Franklin Theatre Wizard of Oz with a twist

Many programs and trips require a minimum number to make it cost effective or to honor the time commitment for an instructor, a licensed driver or facilitator. When you sign up, you are making a commitment to the activity and are responsible for putting it on your calendar. Refunds or credits are not given for any activity, trip or event where there is a ticket, a reservation, or number of attendees that has to be committed in advance. All activities that require a reservation for a meal or materials provided will forfeit payment unless there is a waiting list and we can fill that vacancy with another member. Credits will be given only if the program is cancelled by the Center. Exceptions may be considered by the Center Director in extreme situations.
