His prior Judicial experience was as the Circuit Court Judge, 21st Judicial District for Williamson, Hickman, Lewis and Perry counties. Judge Easter graduated from Nashville School of Law in 1989 and received a B.A. in Political science and Communication from Lipscomb University.

Most recently, Williamson County Schools Superintendent Dr. Mike Looney was named the 2016 Tennessee Superintendent of the Year at the Tennessee Organization of School Superintendents (TOSS) Conference in Gatlinburg.
Creative Wellness and Education Martin Mural 16 little boxes
Friday, October 9 at 12:30 We need you! It’s simple! Barbara Bays created a mural design for our boxes by projecting the artwork onto the cardboard square boxes. The squares will be given out at random for you to paint. At the end of the painting session we will place the boxes back together to form our Martin Mural. Paint and brushes will be supplied. On October 29, we will have a box party with the other centers to unveil everyone’s master piece. No prior experience necessary. We need folks that just want to have fun. Reservations required. Discover and Explore Acrylic Techniques
Instructor: John Cannon 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month at 1:00. Acrylic Painting Techniques. Learn how to use acrylic paints in a variety of styles. Techniques also include alternate surfaces and addition of mediums to achieve artistic effects. Instruction will also emphasize composition and values, as well as practical aspects of creating art. Colorfy Your Mind App or Pencil, you decide
Friday, October 9 at 12:30 Instructor: Barbara Bays When coloring, children intuitively know what to do: they easily choose a design they like and the colors they want to use. By the time we are adults, most of us have lost this spontaneity and often ask: what should I do? Colorfy offers shades of childhood in coloring books for adults to promote relaxation, attention, concentration, better management of stress and development of psychomotor skills. You can bring your I-Pad prior to class and download the free Colorfy app or enjoy the feel of a color pencil in your hand and a hard copy to color in front of you. Reservations required. Batik Dragonfly Ink pen and watercolor
Wednesday, Wednesday, October 7 at 1:00 Instructor: Barbara Bays Batik is a technique of wax-resist dyeing applied to whole cloth, or wax paper made for this technique. Use your pen and ink watercolor talents to incorporate rice paper and wax. The wax is applied and removed revealing a beautiful and unique look. Cost: $16 supplies included for members.

Lipscomb Lifelong Learning Presents
Tour of Historic Mount Olivet Cemetery Saturday, October 10 at 4:30 Instructor: Libby Lacock, Historian and Retired Tour Guide During Mount Olivet’s Confederate Cemetery Illuminated Walking Tour, the dead “come alive”. This site has over 1,500 Confederate graves. Reenactors in period dress will portray spies, soldiers and Southern belles from Nashville’s Past. Stationed at their burial sites, each will tell the story of the person who is buried there, reliving the battles and other historical events that took place during that time. FiftyForward Martin Center Refund Policy Membership and interest in our programs and activities continue to increase. Many programs and trips require a minimum number to make it cost effective or to honor the time commitment for an instructor, a licensed driver or facilitator. When you sign up, you are making a commitment to the activity and are responsible for putting it on your calendar. Refunds or credits are not given for any activity, trip or event where there is a ticket, a reservation, or number of attendees that have to be committed in advance. All activities that require a reservation for a meal or materials provided will forfeit payment unless there is a waiting list and we can fill that vacancy with another member. Credits will be given only if the program is cancelled by the Center. Exceptions may be considered by the Center Director in extreme situations.

Day Trip Noble Springs Dairy Farm Tour Monday, November 16 at 9:30 Noble Springs Dairy is a Grade A Goat Dairy and Artisanal Goat Cheese making operation that was licensed in 2009. Their dairy farm is nestled in the rolling hills, just 6 miles from downtown Franklin, TN. Every animal on the farm has a name, a personality and a place in the family. In the beginning of August 2009, Noble Springs was finally licensed and able to share their delicious goat cheeses with the public. The tour includes many hands on opportunities. At the conclusion of the tour visitors will have the opportunity to sample and purchase some of their delicious products that they ship all over the world. Monday, November 23 at 1:15 Some Like It Hot, 1959 This hysterical comedy from director Billy Wilder finds Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon on the lam after witnessing a mob hit. They join an all-girl jazz band and masquerade as women in order to elude the Chicago mobsters. Martin Center Programming Note: The Brentwood Noon Rotary will be meeting at the Martin Center each Friday through June, 2016. They arrive between 11:30 and Noon and leave approximately by 1:00. If you plan to participate in an activity at the Center before 1:00 please arrive by 11:00 to ensure a parking space close to the front door.
Unbelievable Volunteers and Updates *Flood update: We are slowly but surely getting our beautiful Center back in working order. Carpet and new flooring for the Center have been ordered, as well as kitchen cabinets for our kitchenette. We appreciate your patience during this process. *We would like to extend our gratitude to several of the Martin Men who helped move furniture after the flood, so ServPro could come in and begin the cleanup. Thank you Burke Taulien, Tom Cullen, Dale Yenzer and Chris Betts for your willingness to jump right in and lend a helping hand. *Susan Earl, Director of Brentwood Library hosted some of our classes and events while we were closed due to the flood. We are thankful for their generosity and willingness to help. *We have launched our educational program with Lipscomb Lifelong Learning. Rave reviews have been received from the members in attendance. We look forward to partnering with Lipscomb and offering other educational programs in the spring. *Be sure and mark your calendars for our 10th Anniversary Martin Masters Fine Art Show and Sale featur ing Ron Yor k and Fr iends. The fun will begin with a cocktail r eception Friday, November 13th from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. During the reception, you will have a chance to meet and greet the artists, enjoy great music, wine and hors d’oeuvres. The event ticket is $40. The Art Show and Sale will continue on Saturday, November 14th from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and is open to the public free of charge. *Some of our Martin members took part in the Nashville Predators Senior Appreciation Day. Visiting the Bridgestone Arena was a first for some of our members. Club level tickets are regularly priced at $75, but were offered to our seniors for $25. This price included transportation and a free food voucher. *We would like to give a hearty Thank You to the United Way Day of Caring volunteers from Enterprise Corporation. Fifteen volunteers cleaned and re-stained the tables and chairs on our back patio, cleaned windows, dusted furniture, and cleaned out the freezer. Their hard work and happy hearts are greatly appreciated. *Special thanks to Barbara Bays for leading our members in a class called Colorfy Y our Mind. This class brought about creativity, promoted relaxation and concentration. It also brought about laughter and enjoyment of a favorite pastime. In this class, participants were able to choose to design with colored pencils and a hard copy or download the Colorfy app and create on their I-pads. *Continued appreciation to the generous volunteer support for staffing the reception desk daily and to the ongoing volunteer support of the many committees that keep our doors open with their generous commitment of volunteer hours. *Thank you to David and Priscilla Lee and Tom Cullen for mulching the beds and their continued work maintaining the beautiful grounds.
