What Is A Drone?

Tuesday, January 19 at 11:30 What is a Drone? - “Drones” are probably the most advanced equipment in the field of robotics, aeronautics and electronics.

The technical name of drones is “Unmanned Aerial Vehicles” (UAVs). They are aerial vehicles which come in wide varieties of sizes, shapes and functions, which are controlled either by remote or control systems from the ground. Tom Carr will join us to demonstrate his personal drone.

Creative Wellness and Education Discover and Explore Acrylic Techniques

Instructor: John Cannon 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month at 1:00.

Acrylic Painting Techniques. Learn how to use acrylic paints in a variety of styles. Techniques also include alternate surfaces and addition of mediums to achieve artistic effects. Instruction will also emphasize composition and values, as well as practical aspects of creating art. Cost: $30 per class or 2 classes for $50.

Oil Painting For All Thursdays, at 9:30 Instructor: Barbara Bays Join us for this four week session to learn new ideas, techniques and enjoy fellowship with friends.

These sessions are designed for you to relax and explore your creative side and discover hidden talents in a delightful environment. Cost: $45 for members. Series begins Thursday, December 3.

Colorfy Your Mind App or Pencil, you decide

Tuesday, January 19 at 1:30 Instructor: Barbara Bays When coloring, children intuitively know what to do: they easily choose a design they like and the colors they want to use. By the time we are adults, most of us have lost this spontaneity and often ask: what should I do?

Colorfy offers shades of childhood in coloring books for adults to promote relaxation, attention, concentration, better management of stress and development of psychomotor skills. You can bring your I-Pad prior to class and download the free Colorfy app or enjoy the feel of a color pencil in your hand and a hard copy to color in front of you. Reservations required. Chaffin's Barn Dinner Theatre Murder at the Howard Johnson’s

Thursday, December 17 at 10:15 All is fair in love? Even murder? That’s the question posed by the light hearted and funny suspense – comedy about a love triangle in a Howard Johnson’s Motor Inn. Friday, December 18 at 10:30 The Nashville Biscuit House, the home of real Nashville Country Cooking. There are lots of places you could choose to dine so that is why they want to make your experience at The Biscuit something to remember. Home Cooking is their specialty.

FiftyForward Martin Center Refund Policy Membership and interest in our programs and activities continue to increase. Many programs and trips require a minimum number to make it cost effective or to honor the time commitment for an instructor, a licensed driver or facilitator. When you sign up, you are making a commitment to the activity and are responsible for putting it on your calendar. Refunds or credits are not given for any activity, trip or event where there is a ticket, a reservation, or number of attendees that have to be committed in advance. All activities that require a reservation for a meal or materials provided will forfeit payment unless there is a waiting list and we can fill that vacancy with another member. Credits will be given only if the program is cancelled by the Center. Exceptions may be considered by the Center Director in extreme situations.

Let’s meet at Jonathon's in Cool Springs at 4:00 to enjoy specials on beverages and appetizers. Franklin Theatre White Christmas

Sunday, December 20 at 10:45 White Christmas is a 1954 American musical romantic comedy film directed by Michael Curtiz and starring Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney, and Vera-Ellen, loosely based on the 1942 film Holiday Inn. Filmed in VistaVision and Technicolor, it features the songs of Irving Berlin, including a new version of the title song, "White Christmas", introduced by Crosby in the earlier film.

Christiana, TN Miller’s Grocery

Friday, January 22 at 9:45 Miller’s Grocery was in continuous operation as a country store for over 75 years in the once bustling whistle-stop community of Christiana, TN that included a 3-story hotel, a bank, a telephone office and some 15 other businesses. In 1995, the building was restored as an antique filled, country cafe featuring home-style Southern cooking and award winning “from scratch” desserts. The name “Miller’s Grocery” remains in memory of long-time proprietor Mr. Stanley Miller and as a tribute to a by-gone era. Cost: $10

Pour House Burgers, Bourbon & Brews The Gulch Thursday, January 28 at 10:15

Pour House is a locally owned and operated restaurant located in the Gulch area of Nashville on the corner of 8th and Division.

Offering 28 craft beers on tap, more than 139 sipping Bourbons and Whiskeys and reasonably priced 6 oz hand-ground burgers, with a relaxed and casual neighborhood hangout. Their menu is built around burgers which are hand ground daily in-house using three cuts of meat. In addition there are salads and entrees from the grill and great desserts including their amazing pies. Watercolor Exploration with Barbara Bays 6-week series begins Tuesday, December 1 at 10:00 It is a “no more fear approach� to watercolor. These sessions are for those who want to continue to explore the art of watercolor. Beginners welcome. Any questions please call Barbara Bays at 615-414-0458.

Paraffin Hands Tuesday, December 15 and January 19 at 1:15 What are paraffin hands? Both medical professionals and aestheticians use paraffin wax which is a soft wax derived from petroleum to care of hands both inside and out. Your hands are coated in multiple layers of warm wax and covered in plastic to trap heat and intensify its healing and moisturizing properties. Join us for a wonderful treat after potluck.

Cost: $5 includes gentle scrub for your hands, warm layers of wax to cover your winter worn hands and pamper time with good friends.

Friday, January 29 at 1:00 McFarland, USA (2015) Actors: Kevin Costner , Mar ia Bello, MCFARLAND, USA, is based on the inspiring true story of underdogs triumphing over tremendous obstacles. This heartwarming drama follows novice runners who strive to build a cross-country team under Coach Jim White (Kevin Costner).
