Center to Close Early for Whistlestop FiftyForward Madison’s biggest fundraiser of the year is just around the corner! On Tuesday, March 10th all regular programming, including SilverSneakers classes and Metro Meals, will be canceled for the event. However, the Center will remain open until noon to accommodate the Fitness Center, games and billiards. We could still use some help collecting silent auction items for Whistlestop and would appreciate your reaching out to those you know who may be able to donate items. Thank you for your help to make Whistlestop a success!

Bible Conversation – Bible Conversation meets every Wednesday at 10 a.m. Book Club – Will meet and discuss Wild by Cheryl Strayed at 1:00 p.m. on the fourth Wednesday of the month, March 25th. This nonfiction memoir about the early life of the author and her consequent hike of the Pacific Crest Trail is available at the public library. Dixie Jamboree Goodlettsville Church of the Nazarene, better known as GoodNaz, invites you to a great show of three familyfriendly performances described as “Hee Haw meets the Opry.” You are sure to tap your feet and laugh your way through the show as you take in impersonations of Minnie Pearl, Elvis and The Blues Brothers, among others. Before taking in the spectacle, enjoy a 1:00 p.m. lunch on the premises which includes a Buck’s barbecue sandwich, chips, coleslaw, dessert and tea. Del’s quarterly trips are all about discovering Nashville. This month’s trip takes us on a tour of the historic Two Rivers Mansion. The Friends of the Two Rivers Mansion website describes the house as “one of the last of the elaborate antebellum country homes built in the Nashville area and one of the earliest and best preserved of the ornate Italianate houses in Middle Tennessee. Restored to the stately architectural splendor of the mansion’s early days, Two Rivers Mansion reflects the taste, textures and colors of the post-war era.” Sup at Cracker Barrel as the finale to the day’s southern experience. Note: There are steps to ascend if you wish to tour the upstairs bedrooms. Hiking Club to Beaman Park Let’s see if we can catch any of the early wildflowers at Beaman Park! Enjoy a relatively flat creek-side, dirt trail walk of about a mile. Stamp Show Saturday and Sunday, March 14 & 15 The Nashville Philatelic Society will host their annual Stamp Show here at Madison Station from 10:00 to 5:00 on Saturday, March 14th and 10:00 until 4:00 on Sunday, March 15th. The Philatelic Society provides a place for local collectors to meet, swap and socialize, to further the philatelic education of members, and to educate the public about stamp collecting and promote the hobby. This is a free event and open to the public.
Dr. Ming Wang Seminar Thursday, March 19 Dr. Ming Wang, eye surgeon, returns to Madison Station with his popular annual presentation on Thursday, March 19th at 1:30 p.m. He will share tips on eye care and some of the most recent vision care and enhancements that have been developed within the last few months. The seminar will conclude with a musical finale as he demonstrates his abilities on the Chinese instrument, the “er hu�. National Nutrition Month Thursday, March 26 March is National Nutrition Month! Join Desi Smith of Cigna-Healthspring as she addresses the growing need for nutrition awareness in our country and what you can do to better achieve a nutritious lifestyle. Care Management is a free program supporting older adults who struggle with day-to-day obstacles including limited resources (social, financial and support), functional limitations and isolation, making safely and comfortably living alone a challenge. Ready to Join? Care Management helps older adults feel A membership is just connected, engaged and valued. Without help, they often face more health $120 per year. Bank draft problems, unmet basic needs, and require of just $10 per month is higher levels of care. Madison Station's available as well. We are a Care Manager, Adrienne Morgan, is here to help! The Art Club and Open Art Studio will begin Thursdays in March from 9:00 to 1:00. The Open Art Studio will allow new and experienced artists to seek help from other artists, experiment and encourage each other in an artistic group setting. Bring your own medium and supplies to create and pursue arts and crafts in various forms. Ideas for the shaping and future activities of the group are most welcome.

Feel the Need for Speed? When was the last time you did something for the first time? FiftyForward First trips has another challenge for you! Ever dreamed of riding in a race car? The crew of the Rusty Wallace Racing Experience has offered the Center a reduced price for a 3-lap High-Speed Ride-Along in an authentic race car! Normal price for such a dreamfulfillment would be $129 but we can go for just $80! Sign up at the front desk if you would be interested in taking a trip to try it out at the old Nashville Super Speedway in Lebanon. If there’s enough interest Sam will plan the trip in April.
