Letter from the Center Director Happy Spring! I hope you are enjoying the longer days of sunshine and blooming flowers. With the change in season I am reminded of a quote by Greek Philosopher, Heraclitus: “Change is the only constant in life”. We are currently experiencing a lot of changes here at the center and I would like to take a moment to share about them with you. First, this month we will be saying goodbye to Julie Reeves as she embarks on the next and exciting journey of her life. Julie has been a pleasure to work with and a rock for this center. The love she has for Madison Station is clear and I know that you, as much as I, appreciate all of her hard work and dedication. Please join me in sharing your well wishes with her in the weeks to come. I am sure you have noticed the recent renovations and upgrades. Throughout March we added a ramp at the front entrance, a wall in the activity room, new carpet and paint in the classrooms, and brand new strength equipment in the fitness center. I hope you enjoy these enhancements. We will continue to renovate and upgrade the center throughout the months to come; thank you for your patience. Finally, thank you to all who joined us, in one way or another, for our 20th Whistlestop. We brought in a touch over $21,000 before expenses! Check out the pictures on the back and get excited for next year as the "train" heads to San Antonio! Warm Regards, Brandy Lamb, Center Director
Farewell from the Program Director
Health & Wellness Expo April 11th
As I sit down to write this, I realize how hard it is to say in words what FiftyForward Madison Station has meant to me over the past 6 years. I have made so many friends, lost so many friends and traversed so many life transitions while being here. Through it all, I have experienced the love and support of members and staff that have made a huge impact on my life. Most of all, I have had so much FUN—as seen here at last year’s Homecoming Dance with Sylvia Ballard. Don’t worry, just because I’m gone doesn’t mean the fun ends… Brandy and my replacement (not hired at the time of this writing) will take good care of you! Please come give me a hug at my Farewell Party on April 9 at 1:00 pm!
Sponsored by the Center for Cognitive Medicine at Vanderbilt Health, our annual Health & Wellness Expo will be Thursday, April 11th from 9:30 am until Noon with FREE health screenings, demonstrations, and giveaways from over 35 vendors! You’ll gain a wealth of information from businesses in this area that can provide you valuable services.
—Julie Reeves
You’ll want to stay the whole time as door prizes will be raffled off every 15 minutes. You must be present to win! No ticket or RSVP is needed for this event, just come and bring a friend!

AARP Driving Course April 29-30 Cars have changed. So have traffic rules, driving conditions and the roads traveled every day. Some drivers age 50+ have never looked back since they got their first driver's license, but even the most experienced drivers can benefit from refreshing their driving skills. After completing the course, you will have a greater appreciation of driving challenges and a better understanding of how to avoid potential collisions and injuring yourself or others. Plus, you may be eligible to receive an insurance discount upon completing the course, so consult your insurance agent.
