THE WHISTLESTOP
Center Director’s Report on Madison Station The month of August was full of some great trips and events at the Center. The Madison Station community gathered together on August 21st to witness the incredible event of the Total Solar Eclipse. The MadTown Music Summer Series wrapped up with the band, A long for the Ride, taking the stage and the audience taking to the dance floor. It was a rootin' tootin' good time full of dancing, singing, laughing, friendship, and delicious food! Last month the Center also practiced a Tornado Drill with over 100 members gathering in the safe meeting spot in just minutes, very impressive! The Center will continue to practice other safety drills including fire and active shooter run throughs during the months ahead. I enjoyed meeting everyone who attended the "Meet the Director" event last month and have decided to make it a regular event. I will now be available from 10:00am to 11:00 am before every Tasty Tuesday for "Bagels with Brandy". Join me for community and conversation. Additionally, I will be hosting at least one trip and/or event each month and looks forward to continuing to get to know everyone.
Renovations and improvement projects are continuing around the center. The parking lot has been repainted with new and accessible ADA parking spots complete with bumpers and soon to be installed signs. There are now level cut-through areas in the first and second medians, allowing for safe and easy passage to the Center's entrance. New SilverSneakers chairs have arrived and have already been put to use. Another courtesy phone has been installed and is located just inside the entrance to the Fitness Center. This phone is both for general use and use as a safety line. Calls can be made both outside the center and to the front desk in case of an emergency. In closing, the Madison Station staff would like thank all of you who donated during the FiftyForward Matching Campaign. The Center raised $3,752.50 and that amount will be matched, giving the Center a total donation of $7,505! —Brandy Lamb, Center Director
