Letter from the Center Director Happy November! Every day I am grateful to be here with you. Thank you for the joy you bring and the care you share here, it makes FiftyForward Madison Station a truly magical place! In the spirit of “Thanks” and “Giving” we have several things to be grateful for this month. First, Tom has passed his CDL Driving Certification test and we are able to take the 21-Passenger bus on trips, please join us in congratulating him! Next, we have received a transportation grant that will help expand our Transportation program. This will included additional pick up days for our door-to-door service, monthly shopping trips for household and grocery needs, and free trips for our scholarship members. If you receive a full or half scholarship for your membership please see the front desk for more details. Last but certainly not least, we hope you will join us in celebrating Janet Jernigan, Executive Director of FiftyForward. As you know, Janet will retire at the end of this year and we have so much to be thankful for through her many years of service. We are taking a bus to her retirement party at the Knowles Center on Friday, November 30th at 10:30am. Ther e will be food, fun, and festivities, sign up for this free trip at the front desk if you want to attend. Happy Thanksgiving!!! —Brandy Lamb, Center Director
Letter from the Program Director In today’s society, Thanksgiving kind of gets lost in the shuffle of football season and the holiday craze. But to me, Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. I have so much to be thankful for, and I consider this center and its members to be one of them. That’s why I so enjoy planning a variety of programs for you, and my goal is to have something for everyone. This month, I believe I have achieved this goal with events like a Chinese Medicine demonstration, a chance to record your Oral History, a Holiday Flea Market, Lunch & Learn, Tasty Tuesday and more! Plus you have three opportunities for Bingo this month, with Big Bingo on the 15th honoring our veterans with a free ticket! I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving and count you among my blessings! —Julie Reeves, Program Director
