Letter from the Center Director I feel so lucky to be here at FiftyForward Madison Station and part of such an incredible community. We hope you can join us for our Traditional Irish Meal at this month’s Tasty Tuesday. We are excited to announce we have several laptops available for check out. You can check them out at the front desk and use them throughout the center during the day. Mark your calendars and save the date! Our annual fundraiser, Whistlestop, will be held on Thursday, May 31st. We are looking forward to celebrating the magic of Madison Station with you and members of our community. We are grateful for the financial love we receive so we can continue to carry out our FiftyForward mission to support, champion, and enhance life for those 50 and older. We could use your help as we begin to gather items for our silent auction. You can either donate items yourself or ask for donations from businesses. We want to have several great things to put up for auction. Please see me or Julie for more details if you are interested. "May your troubles be less and your blessings more, and nothing but happiness come through your door." ~Irish Proverb Cheers! —Brandy Lamb, Center Director
Letter from the Program Director I can’t tell you how excited I am that we can now print the newsletter—at least partially—in color! Now we can showcase pictures of members and activities without them being a fuzzy blob! (at left is Judge A ngie Dalton and her grandmother Peggy Nesbitt at February’s Tasty Tuesday.) In March, we’ll have several education opportunities—TWO Lunch and Learns, a Victory Over Crime presentation, and a new Health Information booth three times a month. And of course, we are going to have lots of fun with activities such as fun trips, Tasty Tuesday, Bingo and a new walking club. Read the newsletter cover to cover so you don’t miss anything! —Julie Reeves, Program Director
AMP: Aging Mastery Program is Back! 10-week Class Begins April 6
Interested in feeling better today and staying healthy for the future? Today, we are living longer—so it is good to be thinking about how to engage in ongoing and positive ways to make the most of longevity. FiftyForward is excited to again offer our members a wonderful program developed by the National Council on Aging called AMP, the “Aging Mastery Program.” It is an incentive-based program designed to inform, encourage and support aging adults as they take steps to improve their lives and stay engaged in their communities. AMP incorporates evidence-based materials, expert speakers, group discussion, and peer support to give the participants the skills and tools they need to achieve measurable improvements in managing different aspects in life. Sessions include: Medication Management; Financial Fitness; Sleep; Exercise and You; Advance Planning; and five more that relate to aging. Here at Madison Station, AMP will be offered from 10:00 am to 11:30 am Fridays, beginning April 6 and will run for 10 weeks. FiftyForward is offering this $60 program FREE to members. The FiftyForward Bordeaux location will be joining us as well.) Participants that complete 8 out of 10 classes will receive an AMP certificate at a special graduation ceremony. A limited number of spaces are available for the class so sign up quickly at the front desk. Have questions? See Brandy or Julie.
