September wraps up our Gardening Group. The gardeners will continue to oversee the garden until the Fall season ends. We have gotten some awesome vegetables from the garden this season. Kim’s Korner Its hard to believe that summer is coming to an end. We have had an awesome time this summer here at Knowles! Some of our on-going classes that will be ending in September include our Digital Literacy Class, Gardening Group, “Pal”ing on the Patio and Social Hour. We are sad to see these activities go, however, we are excited to tell you we have some fun activities planned for the Fall season. Walk with Ease has resumed. We will be having an alumni group that will be walking Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 10:30 a.m. and we are taking new walkers as well. The new walkers’ class will start at 10:15 a.m., and the alumni group will start at 10:30 a.m. October will be a very busy month for us here at Knowles. The Activities Planning Committee is working on three major events. Please mark your calendars. The first event is a Health Fair on Thursday, October 12, 2017. Please join us for vendors, give-a-ways, luncheon, and educational classes. You do not want to miss out on this event.! On Thursday, October 26, 2017 ,we will be having a Fundraiser here at Knowles. Its our very first Trash to Treasure Sale. Please stay tuned for a mail-out with more info on this event . The last day is October 31, 2017, we will be having a Halloween Party. If you missed last year — you do not want to miss this year’s event. Get your costumes ready and your party shoes on! Have a Great Rest of the Summer!

What’s New ? Art Meditation is back with a Fall picture to be painted by some undiscovered talent at Knowles. Join us Wednesday. September 6, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. Cost is $10. Join us for Lunch on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 for Pizza and Puzzles. We will enjoy a slice of pizza and race to the finish on some of the center’s best word puzzles. We have some awesome Awareness Classes scheduled for the month to help our seniors better understand Medicare Do’s and Don’ts. Thursday, September 21, 2017, we will have SHIPP in our presence. Tuesday, September 26, 2017 we will have AssureSource. These are information only sessions, please sign up on the clip boards. We will be starting a Walking Club on Monday, September 25th at 10:30 join us for our 1st meeting.
Reghan’s Remarks Happy September Everyone!! You guys know I always do a fact of the month so with that being said … September is the only month with the same number of letters in its name as the number of the month: it is the ninth month and has nine letters! Well, it’s the last month of Summer and we have some fun things planned here at the Knowles Center. Starting with our Day Trips we are going to Plaza Mariachi and The Grilled Cheeserie. We also have a BIG volunteer opportunity coming up for September 11 so, if you are interested in a day of giving back, please call or sign up on the flyer to help with this event!! A few days to remember will be September 4th and September 15th as the Knowles Center will be CLOSED on these days. We also will not have a First Monday Lunch. Instead, we will be celebrating September with a Fish Fry on Monday, September 18th at NOON. Please let us know if you plan to attend so we can plan accordingly! We have some great awareness classes this month so make sure you read over the calendar and attend all the classes that are of interest to you! The center will be closed Monday, September 4, 2017 due to the Labor Day holiday. The center will be closed on Friday, September 15, 2017 for a Staff Retreat. First Monday lunch is cancelled for September , but join us on September 18, 2017 for a Knowles Fish Fry. Cost is $5.00.
