The 2018 Matching Campaign is under way. A generous donor is matching all donations through June 30th. We have already started to receive some donations. There are no limitations on the amount you can donate.

Remember, donations of $1,000.00 or more are always doubled regardless of the timing. We will have a display in the front lobby, which we keep the donation amount to date. Help us continue doing all the great things we are doing now. We appreciate your support!

Hey everyone, it’s Deloitte Day. They are back and ready to help our members with their technology. Volunteers from Deloitte Technology will be here on Thursday, June 7, 2018 beginning at 10:00 a.m. to help members with their technological devices. Bring your cell phone, tablet or laptop in from 10:00 -1:00 p.m. This is a free event. First come, first serve.

June 25th is Health Screening Time at Knowles. Please see the signup sheet to sign up for a time to participate in the various health screenings being offered. These screenings include:   

Blood pressure checks BMI Weight Circumference

Our volunteers are appreciated. Cabot Cheese Farmers Gratitude Grill will be here to help us celebrate our Volunteers on Thursday, June 7, 2018. We will have Free Mac-n-Cheese and salad for lunch provided by Cabot Creamery. There will be entertainment, so join us for this afternoon of fun and recognition. Thanks to our volunteers for all that you do.

Kim’s Korner It’s Summertime. We are excited about the happenings here at Knowles! With the beautiful warm weather comes summer fun. There are many great things to look forward to in the month of June. Pay special attention to the three Summer programs we have taking place. 

Aging Mastery



Cottage Cove



Summer Singing Camp

These three programs each provide a different level of fun. Aging Mastery Program is for the learner in us. Those members interested in learning more about the tools needed to age better are invited to attend this 7- week program. Sign-up soon as classes have begun and the class is almost full.

Cottage Cove is a program for the young at heart. This intergenerational program matches seniors with 2nd and 3rd graders to take an opportunity to learn and play together around topics like gardening, music, art and exercise.

Summer Singing Camp is for the musically inclined or should we say the music lover? Summer Singing Camp is open to everyone. Led by our own Choraleers musician Geno Haffner, the participants in Summer Singing Camp learn a variety of music and its history. This year’s music is “Show Tunes”. What a blast this will be!!

There is no reason to be bored this summer. Join us for the fun!!!

Join us for three great events happening at Knowles Aging Mastery, Cottage Cove and

Summer Singing Camp.

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY! On Friday, June 15, 2018 join us for our Father’s Day Brunch.

You do not have to be a Father to attend. We are recognizing our love for fathers on this day. women and men are welcome to attend. Much like our Mother’s Day tea and tasting, we will be playing games, enjoy good food and company, as we give thanks for our Father’s. Please sign up for this fun event.

Circle of Friends will begin June 8, 2018. This friendship group consists of 8 individuals who may be willing to share some time together discussing life centered questions over a meal. The group will prepare the meal (minimum cooking and prep) and share a discussion over the meal. This fun event is sure to be popular, so sign-up early.

Our Grief and Loss Support Group remains underway, while it is too late to join the group, please if you have suffered a loss, please consider visiting a Grief and Loss support group. Our members have found this group so helpful in helping them to deal with their losses.

The Summer Months are in full swing and so is programming here at the FiftyForward Knowles Center! We have a lot going on over the next couple of months so please make sure to check your calendars and sign up for anything that catches your eye! We only have ONE daytrip this month and that is to Swett’s on June 18th. We will be leaving the Center at 10:30am and returning around 1:00pm. This trip is already half full so please make sure to call in or come by and get your name on the list! Our Garden Group is always looking for new helpers so if you are interested in picking up a new hobby try out the Gardening Group on Fridays at 9:30am. We are also starting back out Tea Group for the 4th session and this group meets on Friday’s at 10:30 am. This is a great time to come in for a low key group where you can get to know some other members, make new friends and give back to the community! This group helped raise/donate 35-40 canned goods for the Community Blessing Box. If you would like to try out new teas and give back there is no need to sign up just drop in and try it out!

REMINDERS Don’t Forget our Gardening Group --- The flowers and vegetables look exceptional. We are so proud of the work this group has done to help keep FiftyForward Knowles looking top notch. We love to hear the compliments from others about how great the place looks!

Tea Time is back... Don’t miss out on this very giving group. This time around we will have individuals in the Wedgewood Houston area who will be having tea with us, as we discuss what’s happening in the neighborhood. As always, we will also be working on a community project, where we give back to others in need. Come join us for the fun!

Please look for postings throughout the center over the next week or so.

Beginning June 15-19th, we will be having our parking lot paved. You will be asked to park either in the back of the building or across the street at the Fairgrounds parking lot, during this period. We will let you know more as we get closer to the date. Please keep your eyes open for instructions. The sealing and stripping of our parking lot is another effort to keeping your center looking fabulous.
