We have been asked many times about the possibility of having someone in the field of law to ask questions about our wills , durable power of attorney for financial affairs and medical directives. Marshall Snyder, Attorney at Law will be at the FiftyForward Knowles Center on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 . Mr. Marshall has some slots available to from 9:00-4:30 p.m.

Please note you will not receive the documents on this day. Mr. Marshall will take the information from your meeting with him and construct the documents to be delivered at a later date.
Kim’s Korner Happy New Year!!!! It is my hope that 2018 will be an awesome year for each and every one of you. A new year often brings many trials and many great joys. This year it is our desire to make sure 2018 is filled with fun and great memories. One way in which we will tackle the challenge of capturing those memories is with a Knowles Story Maker’s Group. Members of this group will journal their life experiences for 2018. This means we will capture the good and the bad. Some of the journaling will be done through writing and some through video. At the conclusion of the year, we will have a “Say Good-bye to 2018 Video Viewing Party”. This will be a fun and exciting learning opportunity for each and every one of us. The first meeting for this group is January 18, 2018. Please note the group will close to taking new members after January 31, 2018. We will have many exciting activities planned for 2018, so fasten your seatbelts and enjoy the ride of your life, as we share exciting times with our Knowles family.

What’s New ? This year here at Knowles we will focus on two new things. increasing our Health Education offerings, and increasing our community partnerships. In order to be a productive Lifelong Learning Center, we have implemented two Knowles members onto our Knowles Advisory Council. Join us in welcoming Ossie Corley-Jefferson and James Trent. Knowles also has a very active activity committee. We are looking to add two new individuals to this group in 2018. The group currently consist of Janice Smith, Jim Johnson, Maurine Simpson, Carolyn, James Trent, Ossie Corley-Jefferson and Dorothy Baccus. These two groups will help to drive a lot of the work that we will be doing in 2018 to strengthen the FiftyForward Knowles Center. Stay tuned for our first Health Series of the season. January 16th, 23rd and 30th will feature awareness classes with a focus on Health Education. In an effort to increase our sensitivity to all cultures, we will also take this year to focus on activities related to various cultures in our community. Join us as we celebrate the following cultures during the first half of the year:
African American-February Indian –March or May Japanese-April
We will conclude the year with a focus on at least two more cultures. Stay tuned…
Reghan’s Remarks HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!! I am so happy to start a new year with all the FiftyForward Knowles family. It is 2018, which means… time to set new goals, organize and get ready for the New Year! I am setting one goal for myself this year and I hope you all set one with me! I know we will have many new fun experiences together this year and I am so happy to be on this ride with you all! We have two daytrips this month and due to the cold weather, we are trying to stay close to the center, so make sure to sign up early and join us for our trips this month! Inspiration and Tai Chi are starting back in the month of January so make sure to look at those times and days, because some things have changed! We are having a Health Series Lunch and Learn, that I personally am very excited about, so make sure to sign up so we have a head count for food! This is very important as we want to be able to feed all who attend!!! We will be closed on Monday, January 15th for Martin Luther King Jr. day but we are celebrating with Soup and discussion on Thursday, January 11th. Remember, with the cold weather and possible snow coming this month, if the Metro Nashville Public Schools (Davidson County) close due to weather, the center will also be closed for programming. SO, if we happen to have an event or trip on one of these days please call the center first before getting out in the cold weather!! I hope everyone stays safe this season and we look forward to making more fun memories with you all. Happy January!!
REMINDERS We want to remind you all of the following things: Center’s Inclement Weather Policy—Centers are to be open as usual during inclement weather. In the event the school system in your county is closed due to inclement weather, all center programming will be cancelled. Again, however, the center will remain open. Center Directors can use their discretion as to whether the center should be opened or closed early, thereby allowing members and staff extra time to get to work or get home safely. If the school system in your county is closed for an extended period of time, center directors have the discretion to resume center programming before the school systems return to a normal schedule.

Tea Time is Back!!! - Tea Time is back and it will be more rewarding than ever. Please join us for good conversation, special projects and great tea.
Inspiration Class has returned — Inspiration Class aka Bible Study has returned. Our featured minister for January is Minister Carl Waller of the Shiloh Baptist Church. Join us for inspiring lessons to take us into the New Year.

Computer Connection Classes
Computer Connection classes are computer classes designed to connect seniors to the computer through use of fun sites like Facebook, Pintrest, You Tube and the News. This class is for beginners and is a non- intimidating way to learn more about these fun sites while you explore from your class computer.
