What’s New ? There are several events planned that will lead up to our spring classes and events: Gardening Club —— we will have a gardening club meeting on February 27th at 1:00 p.m. This meeting will set the tone for how the gardening club will operate for 2018. We will also be deciding roles and electing officers for 2018. If you have an interest in the gardening club, please join us for this meeting. Art Fun —— there will be several opportunities for Art Classes for 2018. If you have an interest in art, please join us for a meeting on March 7th 10:45 a.m. While there are currently no plans for a formal Art Program, we would like to discuss what options do exist for 2018. Men’s Group —— the Men's Group is back for 2018. They will meet every fourth Wednesday of the month at 9:30 a.m.
Reghan’s Remarks Happy February Everyone! Our fun fact for this month is…. February frequently occurs in lists of the most commonly misspelt words in the English language. Last year, a press release from the White House consistently spelt it as F e b u r a r y ! Now, let’s talk about what we have going on in the month of February here at the Knowles Center. Our fine Tea Time group and I are starting a Monthly Give Back Program. Starting at First Monday Lunch in March you will see a basket for canned foods, socks, Ramen noodles etc. (whatever you want to give). After each First Monday Lunch, these items will be taken to our Community Blessing Box for those individuals in our community in need! I hope this is something we can all become involved in! There is no limit or requirement, anything you are able to give will be appreciated! We are very excited to start this here at the FiftyForward Knowles Center. What better way to start the New Year!!! As for the day trips this month we have: Captain D’s, ALDI and Bargain Hunt, O’Charley’s, and Carol Ann’s Café! Some of these trips are almost full, already, so please give us a call and put your name on the list if you plan to attend a trip. Finally, we have a couple BIG events this month starting with (of course) 1. First Monday Lunch, Valentine’s Day Party (wear your favorite red and white outfit because we may have a SURPRISE for you!). 2. Valentine’s Party is also a POTLUCK event so make sure to bring a dish and we will provide the meat. 3. Our Parkinson’s Kick-Off party where we will have demonstration class for future classes here at the center and 4. Our Pool Party to kick off the Knowles Center getting a new pool table! This event is also POTLUCK so bring some finger foods and join us for the fun!
REMINDERS
We want to remind you of our Inclement Weather Policy — On days when Davidson Co. Metro Schools are closed due to inclement weather, all Center classes, trips and special programs, including Metro Meals, will be cancelled; however the Center will remain open (pool table, tv, cards, etc.) If Metro/State offices are closed due to inclement weather, all FiftyForward Centers/ Offices will be closed. We will keep our phone number updated and Facebook page updated with the Center status in the event of inclement weather.
First Monday Lunch — Just a reminder first Monday Lunch has increased to $6.00 Snack Time — Knowles has snacks available for purchase. The cost is $.50! Hopefully, this will make our long days a little easier on the stomach. Also, please don't forget you’re always welcome to bring your lunch-there is a fridge and microwave available in the break area for member use!

The program this year has been revamped to be even better than last year. There will be a meeting on April 3rd, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. to explain the program. Sign-ups will begin in April 3rd.
