“A truly outstanding retirement gift” “The impact that Janet has made on the growth of the FiftyForward organization and the hundreds of thousands of individuals who have been served during her tenure means that only a truly outstanding retirement gift could express our gratitude to her,” says Jim McGregor, Chair of the Janet Jernigan Legacy Fund Campaign and a long-time FiftyForward supporter. “The Legacy Fund allows us to celebrate Janet’s retirement by building a strong source of funding for the agency’s future. What could be a more fitting way to say thank you to a transformational leader than funding that will last forever?” Why endowment? operating costs of the agency, or to support the programs or centers designated by the donors. The Legacy Fund will become a part of the FiftyForward Endowment, which was established more than 30 years ago and is professionally managed by a reputable trust company and overseen by an independent fiduciary board.
Donors may designate which parts of FiftyForward will be supported by their gift: general operations, specific programs or centers. As Endowment Board Treasurer Ed Carter explains, “At this time, the FiftyForward Endowment pays out approximately 4.7% of earnings each year to be used for the support of the work of FiftyForward. Some of the endowment earnings are designated for specific programs and centers, and the rest goes to support the agency as a whole. It’s a great way for donors to give a one-time gift, and then know that their contribution will keep (Continued on page 2) on giving forever.”
