Center Lunch with Banjo Bob Wed., January 30 at 11 am
Smile on 60+ Workshop Tuesday, January 8 at 10 am
Donelson Station’s very own member, “Banjo Bob” Stevens, will be performing on our stage this month. Bob moved to Nashville in 1971 and played for years at Shakey’s Pizza Parlor. In 1976, Bob began a 20-year run working as a musician in the live shows at Nashville’s theme park “Opryland U.S.A.” including four years on the General Jackson Showboat. Since 1989, Bob has been touring America with Mr. Jack Daniel’s Original Silver Cornet Band. He sings, plays the banjo and tenor guitar and fills the role as “The Mayor”. Some of our members saw him at the annual “Tuba Christmas” at which he performs every December. He likes to call his old fashioned music “Neuritis and Nostalgia.” The cost for the luncheon is $8 and includes lunch from the Donelson Café. Sign up with a volunteer or staff member.
We are pleased to present the Tooth Wisdom Workshop in partnership with Oral Health America. Led by a skilled dental professional, this workshop will provide educational and low-cost care resources for older adults and their caregivers. During this free workshop, older adults will learn the basics of daily oral care, how to confidently care for their mouths, appreciate the importance of good oral health habits and the connection between oral health and overall health. The workshop covers many types of oral health problems common among senior adults. Each participant will receive a FREE oral hygiene kit and find out if they may be eligible for the new statewide SMILE ON 60+ initiative. This is a FREE workshop. Sign up with staff or a volunteer.
Pharmacogenomics Testing January 16 and January 30 from 9 am to 12 pm If Medicare is your primary insurance and you are prescribed heart meds or psychiatric meds, you qualify for FREE Pharmacogenomics testing. This is a druggene test that looks for changes or variants in your genes that may determine whether a medication could be an effective treatment for you or whether you could have side effects. The Pharmacogenomics testing investigates how variations in genes affect response to medications, thereby using a patient's genetic profile to predict a drug's efficacy, guide dosage and improve patient reactions. This is an amazing opportunity for those who qualify. You do not have to sign up. Just stop by the testing table in our hallway and a representative will take care of you.
Center Hours: Mon.–Thurs. 7:30 am-6:30 pm, Fri. 7:30 am-5 pm, Saturday 9 am-1pm. Office Opens Monday-Friday at 8 am.
