Because The Golden Heirs Quartet will soon be paying us a visit!

The Golden Heirs have been performing for senior organizations, churches and veterans hospitals since 2005. Vocalists Carl Hardin, Forrest Jackson, Parker Holder and Jim Stan-

ford sing gospel favorites in four-part harmony, while Mrs. Ethel Lunn accompanies the quartet on piano.

We hope you can join us for lunch at 11:30 on July 20. The Golden Heirs will begin their performance at about noon.

The Center provides the main course. Please bring a side dish.

SOUTHERN Care Assisted Living enjoy the Red Hat caroling at Christmastime so much, they asked the Groovy Grovettes to come back mid-year to lead them in a “gospel sing.”

We always enjoy our morning at Southern Care, and are delighted to oblige.

After our visit at Southern Care, we’ll have lunch somewhere in the Cool Springs area.

Summer is here and so is the heat! Take a break and join us in July for a couple of really cool themes we have planned. There are two opportunities for gospel music this month

TOUR MILNAR ORGAN COMPANY IN EAGLEVILLE: THURSDAY, JULY 7 Did you know there is a company that builds pipe organs right here in our community?

Dennis and Connie Milnar started Milnar Organ Company in 1968, in the basement of their Green Hills home, and then moved the business to Eagleville in 1976.

Pipe organs have been around a long time, dating back to the 3rd century B.C., and the Milnars take pride in keeping the tradition alive.

Another thing to consider is that pipe organs are as much a

work of art as they are an instrument of music.

Dennis, who is now semiretired, has graciously agreed to give us a tour of the facility on Thur., July 7. So let’s find out how these musical Afterward, we’ll have lunch at Maple Street Grill, and maybe bum around Eagleville for a bit.

Come along with us as we make a new discovery in our community.

Let’s beat the heat with some shopping in the air conditioned comfort of Cool Springs Mall!

We’ll plan to get there at 10 on Tuesday, July 12, shop for a couple of hours, and then have lunch at Culver’s.

They have good hamburgers, chicken and salads there — plus

really yummy ice cream, which they call “Fresh Frozen Custard.”

If the group would like, we’ll stop by Walmart, or maybe Sprouts on 96 on the way back. (That’s the store that’s like Whole Foods, but less expensive.)

Dr. Cynthia Ellison is the owner of Franklin Hearing Center.

She has been an audiologist since 1974, and she will tell us all about the products and services offered by her company — from hearing tests and hearing aid evaluations to all the latest assistive listening devices.

Plus, on top of a great program, Dr. Ellison has offered to cater lunch for us! There is a limit of 25. Deadline to sign up is Tuesday, July 12.

Dr. Ming Wang, of Nashville -based Wang Vision Cataract and 3D LASIK Center, will offer suggestions on how to care for our vision. He will also discuss the most current state-of-the-art LASIK technology available. We’ll have the opportunity to ask Dr. Wang questions at the end of the program, and he will offer gift certificates good for discounts toward the enhancement procedures that he performs.

Lunch is $4. Please make reservations by Tues., July 26.

COMMUNITY COAT DRIVE College Grove Church of Christ is sponsoring a fall coat drive. They need new or gently used coats for men, women and children, and ask that coats be brought in cleaned and on hangers, please.

The Center will be a drop off location for the coats.

The coat giveaway is set for Sat., October 8, from 8 am to noon.

Fitness folks, please keep your calendars handy this month, because July exercise is going to be a little skimpy.

We will not have an instructor for any Wednesday in July. Also, we will not have an instructor for Monday, July 11.

In addition, and sadly, Chair class will be discontinued beginning in July.

We’ll try to have Aerobics and Yoga back on track in August.

In addition to the regular Bob Ross Painting Workshop, which last two hours and uses an 11 x 14 canvas, art instructor Liz Farar will offer a second painting workshop this month.

Set for Friday, July 22, the second workshop will last five hours (from 9 to 2), and will use a 16 x 20 canvas! Liz says the longer workshop will be more like the TV show, with more detail in the painting. Cost is $50 for bers and $55 for non-members.

Becky Mason has graciously agreed to provide lunch to fellow artists at no charge. Deadline to reserve lunch is July 15.
