K9 (police dog) Unit is a valuable asset to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office. The dogs and their handlers work as a team. In 2016, when taking part in regional police dog certification trials, the four Williamson County teams brought home 27 out of 33 trophies. We are delighted to announce that a couple of the handlers and their dogs are coming to the Center! HE
Join us for Potluck on Wed., July 18. We’ll learn about the different jobs the K9s do, and see them exhibit some of their skills. We’ll have lunch at 11:30, and the program will begin about noon. The Center provides the main course. Please bring a side dish.

Center member, Steve Hewitt is relatively new to this area and, one day, he was telling us about how Mark Stewart had given him a tour of Nashville. Mark had driven him by so many different places, old and new. “He really knows Nashville!” Steve said. Well, that got us to thinking, and so we asked Mark if he would take us through a tour of downtown Nashville — and he said Yes! Come with us, on Tues., July 31, when Mark navigates and narrates us through Nashville’s rapidly changing landscape — from the Cumberland River and the
“new” Ft. Nashborough down to Music Row, and all the major points of interest in between! We’ll stop for a restroom break at the Bicentennial Mall. This will be a fabulous trip, whether you ever “knew” Nashville or not. We’ll have lunch at one of the few longtime meat and three restaurants that remains open in Nashville. It’s still going strong and, locally, it’s legendary. But we’re going to keep our specific destination a mystery. The van will leave the Center at 9:45. Van fee is: $8.

THURSDAY, JULY 19 RITA’S CARE AT HOME Kim Martin will treat us to lunch on Thurs., July 19, and tell us all about Rita’s Care at Home. It’s a family-owned business, and Kim is part of the family. In fact, the photo here, of Kim and her grandmother, is also on the front of the company’s brochure. We’ll learn what services Rita’s Care At Home provides and how much they cost. Kim will also discuss the background checks they perform before hiring caregivers.
When Ginger and Phil Rogers moved to New Mexico, the Center lost another beloved leader of its Bible class. That’s the bad news. The good news is that Rhonda Rose has agreed to fill the spot! Rhonda is our Program Associate and most of you know her by now. She will bring her own style to the table, just as she has to her position. We trust her to create an open environment for meaningful study and dialogue. Classes will resume in August and will follow the same format, second and fourth Tuesdays at 9:30.
