IF YOU LIVED IN THIS VICINITY during the 1960s, you probably know who Len Rossi is. Remember when WSIX-TV used to broadcast live wrestling on Saturday nights? Len Rossi wrestling Jackie Fargo and — who could forget — Tojo Yamamoto. Or the promoter, Nick Gulas, and the sponsor, Harold Shyer. (“... and if Harold says it’s so, it’s so.”) Well, they say life turns on a dime, and Rossi’s did, in 1972, and he retired from wrestling. Not surprisingly, however, the second half of his life is, in many ways, more remarkable than the first. Rossi took up studies in naturopathy,
learning how the body can heal itself with the proper vitamins, minerals and diet. He became a counselor on health and wellness. He established and operated Len Rossi Food and Health Care Center on Franklin Road in Brentwood from 1974 until 2015. These days, Rossi and his wife, Jeanie, run the business out of their home in Nolensville, and we are We’ll have lunch at 11:30, and hear from Rossi at about noon. provides the main course. he Red Hat Society plans to tour the McLemore House African American Museum in Franklin this July 26th. Built by a former enslaved man, the property remained in the McLemore family from 1880 until 1997. Now listed on the National Register of Historic Places,
McLemore House chronicles the struggles, triumphs And contributions of African Americans in Williamson County through an array of artifacts, pictures and exhibits. Admission to the museum is $5. We’ll find someplace good to have lunch in Franklin. The van will leave the center at 9:30 am. Van fee is: $5.
