f you like to hear voices in harmony,

The Knott Sisters specialize in swing, classic jazz and Christian music. Debbie, Vicki and Joyce create a perfect blend of sound in a high energy set of music that ranges from 40s jazz (a la Andrews Sisters) to cool contemporary songs.

We have a connection to The Knott Sisters. It’s through Herb Wallace, the man who plays our Mystery Founding Father for 4th of July. Herb is married to Vicki (the woman on the left).

he Red Hat Society will gather for their annual planning meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 23 at 10 a.m.

Do you have any ideas for interesting daytrips? This is the time to bring your ideas to the table! It doesn’t matter if you don’t consider yourself a “Red Hatter.” The planning meeting is open.

Welcome 2019, Happy New Year! A big thank you to all our volunteers who helped make our Pancake Breakfast & Bake Sale successful in December. We made $1150! In addition, our craft studio raised $350! All of these funds will benefit the programs at FiftyForward College Grove. We could not have done this without the work of our dedicated volunteers.

I also want to thank everyone who contributed gifts or money to our adopted family from the local elementary school. It was nice to see how you all embraced this local community family at Christmas.

Join us in the new year for some fun and exciting programs Libby has planned for us. She has made sure you will not get bored this winter!

During the coldest months, we tend to stay in our own “neck of the woods” and, oddly enough, these simple daytrips often turn out to be the most enjoyable of all.

On Thursday, Jan. 17, we’ll drive south to Lewisburg to do some leisurely shopping and have a nice lunch somewhere. The van

will leave the center at 9:30 a.m.

Van fee is: $6.

On Tuesday, Jan. 29, we’ll head north to Nolensville and do the same. If everyone has enough energy after lunch, we may hop up to the Goodwill at Concord Road.

Stained Glass Series Will Repeat if There is Enough Interest We are so happy to be able to offer an affordable class in stained glass at the center!

If you wanted to take this class, but didn’t get in — no worries! Our instructor, Mike Jones, has agreed to teach an additional series, if there are enough students to support it. It would begin in March. creates a stained glass window Please let staff know if you panel.

The fee is $55 for memIt’s a five-week course that bers, $70 for non-members, and meets on Fridays from 11 to 2, and includes supplies.

This will be a fun day. We are going to look at childhood pictures of each other — and guess who it is!

We’d like to start displaying the photos as soon as possible.

Please bring one childhood picture of yourself to Libby. Make sure it doesn’t have your name on it.

To keep the display anonymous, we will assign each photo a number before setting it out. We will keep the “master list” a secret until the end of the program and everyone has made their guesses.

The person who correctly identifies the most people will receive a goodie bag.

We’ll have lunch at 11:30 and the program will begin about noon. Please make lunch reservations by Tuesday, Jan. 8.

Buttons have been around almost 5,000 years. They reflect trends, art styles and societal perceptions. Nearly every material imaginable has been used in button production, and just as many subjects in their design.

We are overjoyed to host Judy Skelton from the Tennessee State Button Society on Jan. 24. She will talk to us about buttons and, if time permits, she’ll discuss buttons you bring in from home.

We’ll have lunch at 11:30 and the program will begin about noon. Please make lunch reservations by Tuesday, Jan. 22.

Please remember that, when Williamson County Schools close due to inclement weather, the center will observe the following policy: All of our regular programming — classes, events, lunches and daytrips — will be cancelled.

April Erb and Bryan Todd, owners of Sip-n-Scoop, have graciously offered to reach out to some of their music friends, and find someone to play and sing for us Jan. 31.

We don’t know who our musical guest will be. But we bet they’ll be good! Join us!
