BIRTHDAY POTLUCK: DECEMBER 21 JACKI RUMPP & HOLIDAY MUSIC 3  Pancake Breakfast (with Santa!) & Bake Sale

4  Christmas Parade 5  Bob Ross Painting Workshop

IT HAS BEEN A COUPLE YEARS since Jacki Rumpp paid us a visit, and we were especially delighted when she accepted our invitation to this month’s Potluck! If you don’t know who Jacki is, she leads music at the Methodist Church. She has a great

voice, and she also plays a pretty mean guitar. Enjoy the season with us this December 21st. We’ll have lunch at 11:30, and Jacki will begin about noon. The Center provides the main course. Please bring a side dish.

The first weekend in December is sure going to be busy in College Grove….Pancakes, Santa photos, the Bake Sale and the Christmas parade. Saturday, Dec. 3 is our Pancake Breakfast and Bake Sale. Oh, and did I mention that

Santa will be stopping by for pic-

This Dec. 20th will be the third year for George Shinn to host his Senior Christmas ShinnDig — which includes a complimentary meal, and an afternoon of great entertainment. The fabulous Jeannie Sealy will return to headline this year. Joining her will be Bill Anderson, Sylvia Hutton, Charlie McCoy and Paul Alan Coons.

NOTE: In the past, we have been seated at tables on the floor level, however, we don’t know if we’ll get the great seating again this year. Maybe we will. But our tickets could be in the bleachers. If you sign up to go, please be prepared for some stairs. The van will depart at 10 a.m. on Dec. 20. Van fee is $6.

tures! We need volunteers to bake pies, cakes, cookies, breads, and other goodies for our bake sale. Please deliver your goodies to the center on Friday, Dec. 2. The College Grove Christmas parade is right around the corner on Sunday, Dec. 4. Please let me know if you would like to ride on the center’s float. You will need to be at the center at 12:45 so we can load the float and get in the lineup for the parade to begin at 2 p.m.

“White Christmas” is a beloved holiday classic, and The Franklin Theatre will show it Mon., Dec. 12 at 1 pm. This 1954 musical stars Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney and VeraEllen. The lyrics and music were written by Irving Berlin. Plus — what a great op-

portunity to check out the historic Franklin Theatre! Admission to “White Christmas” is $6, and we need to reserve seats ahead of time. Deadline to pay is Friday, Dec. 2. The van will leave the Center at 10:30 a.m., and we’ll stop for a quick bite of lunch on the way. Van fee is $6.

Nutritionists Judy Fields and Heather Bumbalough, who previously brought us a great program on Calories, will return to share tips that show us how we can enjoy our favorite holiday foods, without overindulging, simply by being mindful. Lunch is at 11:30, and will cost $4. Please make reservations by Tuesday, Dec. 6.

MEMBERSHIP DUES & FITNESS FEES TO INCREASE It is with a heavy heart that we announce an increase in our membership dues and fitness fees. Truth be told, though, we delayed implementing these increases probably longer than we should have. ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP — Effective immediately, dues will increase to $90. While this represents a $15 increase, please keep in mind that membership to the College Grove center costs less than the other FiftyForward centers who charge $120. We try hard to bring you worthwhile programs and activities, and hope you feel they are worth $90 a year. Also, please remember that full and half scholarships are

available for membership. If your income is below $790 monthly for one person, or below $1,069 for a couple, you may qualify for a scholarship. If you think you are eligible for a scholarship, please bring documentation (your tax return or Social Security statement) in to Sarah. FITNESS FEES — During the first fiscal quarter this year (July, August & September), our center lost an average of $125 per month on fitness. Therefore, beginning January 4, aerobics and yoga will cost $5 per class for members, and $8 per class for nonmembers. There will be no discount for taking both classes in the same day.

center has been given the opportunity to “adopt” a family from College Grove Elementary for Christmas. And, based on your overwhelming support last year, we have gladly accepted. Our family consists of a mom and a dad, and two boys, one is 10 and the other is 23. We were given their sizes and a list of things they want and need. We have made a list of specific items for each person in the family and will display a corresponding “angel” in the Center. Please pull the angel(s) with the gift(s) you would like to buy. Then ask Sarah or Libby to write your name down for that gift on the list they are keeping. If you would prefer to donate money (rather than shop for a gift), we will put your money toward a gift card to Kroger. The deadline is Wed., Dec. 14. Please bring your wrapped gift to the Center by that date.
