Fall to me is the best time of the year. Why? You get a chance to see the leaves turn orange, brown and red, drink hot chocolate and feel the cool air move in to winterize everything. Not to mention, watching my backyard family of squirrels search for food in preparation for winter. Most important of all is giving THANKS and spending time with family. So, I challenger each person to take time out of your busy schedules and say, THANKS to someone, family, friend or a stranger! This could change someone’s journey in LIFE! Have a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving! Melvin D. Fowler, Center Director

-Julia Child TRUE FACTS ABOUT NOVEMBER!

1. The name ‘November’ comes from the Latin for nine (novem), as it was the ninth month of the Roman calendar. 2. November was called “Blood Month” by the ancient Saxons because that was the month they sacrificed animals to their gods. 3. Observed during the second week in November, National Split Pea Soup Week celebrates exactly what you’d think it does: that yummy green potage. 4. There is no mention of the month of November in any of Shakespeare’s plays or sonnets.
