Letter from the Director Dear Turner Center Members, This month we hope that you will take advantage of the many trips and outings that we have planned for you! We are exploring several of our other centers around Middle Tennessee where we will get to enjoy some great musical performances. Also, did you know that as a member of the FiftyForward J. L. Turner Center you can take advantage of the numerous other services that FiftyForward offers? These services include: RSVP (Retired Senior and Volunteer Program), Meals on Wheels, Adult Day Services, Care Management and Victory Over Crime. If you have any questions about how you can take advantage of these programs, please see a Turner Center staff member. ~ Megan

Around the World with FiftyForward There is so much to talk about when you bring up travel with FiftyForward. There are worldclass destinations planned for both near and far for 2014 and 2015. The trips coordinated through FiftyForward Travel are planned exclusively with active older adults in mind. On The Road with Joan motor coach excursions are coordinated by the Turner Center’s own Joan Sincerbox. Joan travels to destinations throughout Middle Tennessee and Southern Kentucky

all year long. There is even the monthly trip to Harrah’s in Metropolis, IL for you to enjoy. Janice Judd coordinates travel adventures to national and international destinations. Come see the world with FiftyForward Travel. For a list of unique travel opportunities, turn to page 2.

programs that may be beneficial to you. For a comprehensive list, you can refer to the Senior Resource Guide book kept in the lobby or visit their website at www.seniorsresourceguide.com/directories/nashville. A few examples of free/low cost services include the following: Dental services at Interfaith Dental Clinic (329-4790) and Meharry Medical School (327-6669). There are also prescription assistance programs that can minimize the cost of prescriptions – Sun Association Card (866-662-1351) and RX Benefits (800-334-8134). The Davidson County Health Department can provide public assistance in the forms of health clinics, financial planning, and supplemental food assistance (340-5616). The FiftyForward Care Team can provide assistance in finding services like receiving care at home, getting access to benefits, Meals on Wheels, and other social service programs (743-3436). specify some free/ low cost services, as well as public assistance and social services programs.
