Note from the Center Director We are sad to announce that Helen Landry, our dedicated and organized Office Manager for the last three years has decided that she would like to retire….again! This will be her third retirement and she looks forward to being a fulltime Martin member again very soon. We are thrilled to announce that Casey Griffith is joining our Martin team and she will be transitioning into this position from her position as Program Assistant at the Knowles Center. Her schedule will be staggered for the next few weeks but please take a minute to stop by her office to greet her and make her feel welcome.

Casey’s Corner Hi Martin members! I’m excited to join the team as Volunteer and Office Manager. In this role, I will coordinate ongoing volunteer opportunities such as the Fluffettes, and Card Crusaders – what great names! I will also organize special volunteer projects. In fact, there is an opportunity on Friday, September 9, to support the Nashville USO for the annual 9/11 National Day of Service. More information is below and I hope we can get a group together! I admire the volunteering spirit of Martin Center members and the way you take ownership and pride in your center. I can’t wait to build upon the already solid base of volunteers. As I get to know all of you and learn about your interests and talents, I will think about ways in which you can benefit the Martin Center and Brentwood community. You never know how something that seems so small can mean a great deal to others. Personally, I enjoy talking with homebound senior citizens and building houses with Habitat for Humanity. What do you like to do? Come tell me! I look forward to getting to know all of you and hearing your stories. Please stop me anytime to introduce yourself and chat! I might ask your name a few times but I will eventually remember it! And thank you in advance for your willingness to help out! Your new friend, Casey

Volunteer Opportunity 9/11 National Day of Service Friday, September 9 from 10:30 to 2:30 “Fill the Truck” for the Nashville USO is looking for volunteers to hand out flyers at our local Kroger. Donations will directly benefit the USO Centers at Fort Campbell, Nashville International Airport, the Middle Tennessee Military Entrance Processing Station and the military men and women they serve. If you are interested please contact Casey at cgriffen@fiftyforward.org or by calling 615-376-4330.
