Moore, State Archaeologist and Director Tennessee Division of Archaeology Topic: The city of Brentwood contracted with the archaeological firm of DuVall & Associates, Inc. to identify and remove graves within the construction area, a process that took over three months. The team confirmed the presence of graves and post patterns for houses and the town wall, or palisade. This fascinating presentation documents pottery, dated 1200-1300 A.D. as well as evidence that suggests that the first North American inhabitants crossed the Bering Strait from Asia at least 15,000 years ago.

CarFit: Why is CarFit important? Sponsored by Nashville State
Friday, April 11 at 9:00 to 1:00 CarFit is an educational program that offers mature adults the opportunity to check how well their personal vehicles "fit" them. The CarFit program also provides information and materials on communityspecific resources that could enhance their safety as drivers, and/or increase their mobility in the community. Why is CarFit important? Older drivers are often the safest drivers in that they are more likely to wear their seatbelts, and less likely to speed or drink and drive. However, older drivers are more likely to be killed or seriously injured when a crash does occur due to the greater fragility of their aging bodies. A proper fit in one's car can greatly increase not only the driver's safety but also the safety of others. How is a CarFit check completed? At a CarFit event, a team of trained technicians and/or health professionals work with each participant to ensure they "fit" their vehicle properly for maximum comfort and safety. A CarFit check takes approximately 20 minutes to complete. Reservations required.

Firearms Training Simulation Brentwood Police Department
Monday, April 28 at 8:45 Instructor: Captain Alan Hardcastle The most dangerous situation for a police officer is a confrontation with someone who is armed. Bell Buckle and Miller’s Grocery Day Trip
Friday, May 9 at 10:00 Lunch at Miller's Grocery. Miller’s was in continuous operation as a country store for over 75 years in the once bustling whistle-stop community of Christiana, TN that included a 3-story hotel, a bank, a telephone office and some 15 other businesses. In 1995, the building was restored as an antique-filled, country cafe featuring home-style Southern cooking and award winning "from scratch" desserts. The name "Miller's Grocery" remains in memory of long-time proprietor Mr. Stanley Miller and as a tribute to a by-gone era. Million Dollar Quartet is the name given to recordings made on Tuesday December 4, 1956 in the Sun Record Studios in Memphis, Tennessee. The recordings were of an impromptu jam session between Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and Johnny Cash. The stage musical Million Dollar Quartet, written by Floyd Mutrux and Colin Escott, dramatizes the Million Dollar Quartet session. Tickets are located in rear orchestra. Showtime at 1:00. All you need to do is donate an hour of your time to help the Martin Center raise funds that will directly benefit our Center and our members. This beaded bookmark craft is easy and fun to make and you will be helping raise money for the Center. They will fit any theme just by changing the colors and shapes of the beads. Supplies included.
