Bookbug in the Garden Bookbug is BACK! Join us for interactive Bookbug sessions in Dunfermline and St Andrews.

In Dunfermline, we’ll be in the gorgeous gardens at Dunfermline Carnegie Library & Galleries and then go inside on a VIP guest tour of the EXPLORE! Travellers and Trailblazers exhibition.

Tuesdays at 10.30am & 1.30pm on 13, 20 & 27 July and 3 August At St Andrews, the fun will be in the gardens of St Andrews Museum, where we will be inspired by the museum’s Art-tastic exhibition and the beautiful grounds.

Every Wednesday and Saturday at 11am between 14 July & 7 August Bookbug sessions are for families with children aged 0 – 4 but spaces are limited.

Craft events Explore! Travellers & Trailblazers Family holiday fun at Dunfermline Carnegie Library & Galleries Looking for some interesting and fun things to fill the time over the summer holidays? This summer let us take your family on an epic adventure!

Get hands-on at one of our craft sessions inspired by our world and its universe – perfect for 5–11- year-old explorers!

Workshops at 11.30am and 2.30pm on Tuesdays 13, 20 & 27 July and 3 August. Places are free but must be booked in advance. Visit www.onfife.com/summer2021 for details.

Follow in the footsteps of intrepid explorers to discover exotic lands and fantastic voyages through our family-friendly exhibition. There are wonderful things to see and lots of fun activities to enjoy, with fascinating objects that have come to our museums from faraway places, such as Japan, China, South Africa, India and Australia. From polar pioneer to tropical trekker – what will your amazing journey be?

Art Events Art-tastic Bunting in the Park 1pm on the 17, 21, 31 Jul & 4 Aug Bring your wee ones along to create their own three-flag mini bunting inspired by paintings in our art exhibition using collage, paints and embellishments.

Banner Making 1pm on the 14, 24 & 28 July Help turn our outdoor space into a gallery by creating an amazing artwork on a banner to be displayed around our museum.

Expressive Planting 1pm on 7 August A chance to create an eco pot inspired by the selection of paintings in our current exhibition. Children will use their imaginations to express feelings, moods and stories through colour, patterns and shapes.

All materials provided. Come wearing clothes suitable for painting.

Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Does a picture paint a thousand words?

Come along to our colourful and entertaining exhibition to explore the stories hidden within some of our fantastic paintings. Think about what you can see or how they make you feel. Then fire up your imagination and use your powers of detection to create your own stories. With lots of lovely paintings and other interesting items to inspire families, as well as quizzes and craft videos with some great ideas for simple things to make and do at home.
