“Scandinavian Beauty: Where timeless elegance meets modern luxury.”
MIGHTY MAGAZINE # 79
For Mighty Magazine, this European special issue represents a celebration of global fashion culture, where classic beauty evolves through modern storytelling. It is an invitation into a world where fashion, travel, and artistic vision meet at the highest level.
For this special European edition, Mighty Magazine captures a vision of modern elegance where minimalism meets cinematic glamour. Framed by palm-lined horizons and Mediterranean light, Elsa Hosk appears as the embodiment of contemporary Scandinavian beauty — effortless, sophisticated, and quietly powerful. Draped in a sculptural ivory silhouette, the cover creates a striking dialogue between softness and strength. The flowing textures, clean lines, and architectural setting transform the image into more than a fashion portrait; it becomes a statement about femininity in its most refined form. The contrast between the serene ocean backdrop and the bold visual composition creates a feeling of freedom, luxury, and timeless allure. This cover is not driven by excess. Instead, it celebrates restraint — proving that true fashion power often lives in simplicity. Elsa’s presence commands attention through attitude rather than ornamentation, bringing an understated confidence that feels both intimate and iconic.
For Mighty Magazine, my closest creative match to this cover mood would be CHRIS COLLS Photographer — polished luxury, destination fashion energy, and a modern editorial feel.

Christian Louboutin: The Red Sole That Redefined Modern Luxury
Born in Paris on January 7, 1964, Christian Louboutin grew up with a natural curiosity for art, drawing, and theatrical expression. Before entering the world of footwear, he explored creative environments tied to Parisian performance culture, an early influence that would later shape his dramatic, sculptural approach to design.
His fascination with shoes was sparked in 1976 during a visit to the Musée national des Arts d’Afrique et d’Océanie in Paris, where a simple museum sign prohibiting stiletto heels— due to potential damage to the flooring—left a lasting impression. That moment became the conceptual seed for what would later define his career: the elegance, power, and architecture of the stiletto heel.

Fashion 4 Ukraine
Where Heritage Meets the Global Runway
Photographers credit: Evelina Savochkina, Nikolai Akinin, David McCreery, Oleksandr Tarasiuk.
Fashion 4 Ukraine (F4U), the Ukrainian New York Fashion Week showcase founded in September 2024 by model and journalist Olga Ivanidi, has quickly become a key player on the NYFW calendar. Season 4, held on February 13 at the iconic Lavan Midtown in Manhattan, marked a turning point, featuring 11 standout collections from Ukrainian and American designers, alongside local Ukrainian vendors and artisans during a vibrant cocktail hour supported by Ukrainian-American businesses. The event drew fashion icons, press, show founders, local singers, buyers, boutiques, and politicians, with Miss USA World Elite 2025, Iryna Kushnerchuk, among the models gracing the runway.
F4U showcased both established designers living in the U.S., like Mary Witch, Bazhana, Lara Kim, Hinkelman, Ira Lysa, and Swan Gowns, and fresh talent directly from Ukraine like AMBITNA. Founded in 2022 by Svitlana Puhach, the brand, whose name means “ambitious”, made a striking impression, blending classic tailoring with animalistic prints, unconventional cuts, and fashion-forward details.
“This season hit close to home,” Ivanidi reflected. “I feel blessed to inspire and present a collection by Oleksandra Knyha from my home city of Kherson.” Knyha’s KNIGA
Art Studio presented South Wind, a collection crafted amid war conditions, capturing the resilience and quiet strength of the modern Ukrainian woman through structured yet fluid silhouettes, complemented by handcrafted accessories from Inna Kibzun.
F4U also transported Lara Kim’s acclaimed Free Bird collection to New York after its award-winning run across Ukraine and Europe. Featuring a recurring bird motif symbolizing both the human spirit and Ukraine itself, the designs incorporate cages the bird never occupies alongside a handwoven towel created using techniques recognized in Ukraine’s National Intangible Cultural Heritage.
Since its inception, Ivanidi has prioritized including international and American designers and beauty professionals to emphasize that Ukrainian fashion is for the world. American designer Vaida has appeared twice, and the show closed with Project Runway Season 18 runner-up Nancy Volpe Beringer presenting an avant-garde collection, reinforcing cross-cultural collaboration while giving Ukrainian designers and models the chance to network, exchange ideas, and shine on a global stage.
“It’s important to remember that our show isn’t just etno-Ukrainian clothes,” Ivanidi stressed. “It’s a modern representation of Ukrainian designers putting their heritage and skills into every stitch and detail.”
“This season hit close to home,” Ivanidi reflected. “I feel blessed to inspire and present a collection by Oleksandra Knyha from my home city of Kherson.”

Without Borders — From Ukraine to
New York
By Frank Mareno
MM 1. Tell us about your journey from Ukraine to New York and how it shaped your career as a model and a Founder of Fashion 4 Ukraine in the fashion industry.
I was born in Kherson, Ukraine, and my path has been anything but traditional. After graduating with honors in International Affairs Management, I came to the U.S. in 2009 for an internship at the Marriott Hotel in Jackson, Mississippi, and worked my way up to Manager on Duty. Later, I moved to Chicago, where volunteering with children’s literacy non-profit Open Books unexpectedly changed everything - it led to a full scholarship at Columbia College Chicago, where I earned my Master’s in Journalism in 2017. From there, I built my own media company in New Orleans, continued writing for a Ukrainian fashion publication, and developed my business skills through LaunchNOLA and IDEAinstitute.
Fashion, though, has always been a part of who I am. I started modeling at a local modeling agency at 15 in my hometown and won Miss Kherson at 17, but it was years later that I returned to the runway in the U.S. in 2018–2019 during New Orleans Fashion Week, where I was living at the time. Since then, I’ve participated in fashion weeks and events across the country - from New York to Miami, Los Angeles, Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, Houston, and Chicago. I have collaborated with and modeled for many prominent international and American designers, including those featured on the popular television show Project Runway. In September 2024, I launched Fashion 4 Ukraine at New York Fashion Week because I saw a gap and knew Ukrainian designers deserved that platform. Four sold-out shows later, it’s grown into something much bigger than I imagined - a real community moment, a “party with a purpose” that supports Ukrainian charities and designers while bringing our fashion to a global stage. At the end of the day, my goal is simple: to make sure Ukrainian fashion is seen, valued, and recognized in the American industry.
MM2. What inspires your vision when producing a fashion event?
When I produce a fashion event, I always start by asking myself: would I want to be there?
I want every show to feel like an experience I’d love - from thoughtfully curated food and drinks to shopping with vendors who truly have a story, and collections I could see myself wearing or connecting with on a deeper level. I also think about the people behind the scenes, the models, makeup artists, hair stylists, because I know what it feels like to be in their shoes, and I want them cared for, energized, and supported. But above all, I focus on why we’re doing it. Too many shows are just a parade of clothes. I dive into the history of the designs, understand the purpose behind each collection, and collaborate only with people whose work I deeply respect. Every decision is made with soul. In short, my vision is to create the kind of show I’d be excited to walk into, enjoy, and remember, one that celebrates the creativity, meaning, and heart behind fashion.
3. What makes New York the perfect place for fashion events today?
New York is the perfect stage for fashion today because it brings together an incredible mix of talent, energy, and opportunity. The city has endless options for venues, vendors, and collaborators, and its diversity makes every show richer and more dynamic. It’s the fashion capital of the U.S. I love this phrase, “if you can make it in New York, you can make it anywhere”. That’s the energy I want to capture in every event I produce: bold, vibrant, and unapologetically ambitious.
4. How do you incorporate your Ukrainian heritage into your work?
Being Ukrainian doesn’t mean wearing our traditional clothes, vyshyvanka, or shouting your heritage from every corner - it’s about a mindset. Even after 17 years in the U.S. and raising a nine-year-old here, that resilience I inherited from Ukraine is at the core of everything I do. No matter the production challenges, negative feedback, or sponsor rejections, you keep push-
ing forward - that’s the spirit of our nation. I’ve also been fortunate to feel the incredible support of the Ukrainian community here in New York, who have been generous and protective in helping make the show happen. On a personal level, I try to support Ukrainian designers whenever I can, wearing their brands and choosing their accessories, because keeping that connection alive is as much a part of my work as the shows themselves.
5. What advice would you give to emerging fashion promoters and creatives?
My advice is simple: always know why you’re doing it. Understand the purpose of your show - who are you helping, who are you representing, and what’s your niche? In the beginning, you’ll wear many hats and do a lot yourself, but over time, build a team and delegate the tasks that aren’t your strength. Invest in visibility like publications, magazine features, media coverage, because it matters. Stay creative, keep evolving, and always look for ways to improve. And yes, it may sound cliché, but persevere. Don’t get discouraged. If you’re truly passionate and committed, your energy will show, and people will support you.
6.- MM: Do you believe beauty is a mat- ter of attitude or appearance?
I believe beauty begins with attitude. Appearance may create a first impression, but it is confidence, authenticity, and the way a person carries themselves that truly defines beauty. A positive mindset and inner strength have a lasting impact far beyond physical features.
7.- MM: Do you think beauty is important in today’s world?
Beauty does hold importance in today’s world, especially in industries like fashion and media. However, its meaning is evolving. Today, beauty is increasingly about individuality, diversity, and self-expression rather than fitting into a single standard. True beauty resonates when it reflects who you genuinely are.

For nearly eight decades, the Festival de Cannes has transformed the French Riviera into the most glamorous runway in the world — a place where cinema, fashion, and fantasy collide beneath the Mediterranean sun. What began in 1946 as a celebration of international film has evolved into a cultural spectacle where every staircase becomes a catwalk and every flashbulb feels cinematic. The 79th edition of the festival unfolds from May 12–23, 2026, continuing a legacy that has shaped global film and luxury culture for more than 78 years.
The Festival was born in 1938 from an idea by Philippe Erlanger. Aborted by the war, the project was taken up by Jean Zay and Albert Sarrault.
Thus, in a light post-war atmosphere, the first edition was held in September 1946. The stars of the time came to discover the charms of Cannes and the French Riviera.
The ultimate award, symbolised by the famous Palme d’Or, was created in 1955.
Chopard modernised it in 1997. Made of 24-carat gold and crystal, it is hand-cut, and each model is unique, but rest assured that the gold is mined in conditions that respect both people and the environment.
The Festival is intimately linked to Cannes and the Palais des Festivals, created and built especially for the event.
Fashion’s Most Powerful Red Carpet
AT CANNES, CLOTHING IS NEVER INCIDENTAL. IT IS NARRATIVE.
The festival has produced some of fashion’s most enduring images: sweeping satin trains against the Riviera wind, barefoot rebellions on the staircase, archival couture resurrected under moonlight. The aesthetic language of Cannes is rooted in old Hollywood glamour but constantly rewritten by each generation.
This year’s edition balances strict elegance with modern rebellion. The festival reaffirmed its formal dress code in 2026, limiting nudity and oversized gowns while maintaining its black-tie identity. Yet Cannes has always belonged to rule-breakers as much as traditionalists.
The tension between discipline and daring is precisely what makes the fashion unforgettable.
One actress arrives in sculptural minimalism. Another chooses liquid-metal sequins that catch every camera flash. Somewhere nearby, a supermodel appears in archival couture from the 1990s, reminding the world that Cannes reveres fashion history as much as film history.
The New Era of Cannes Glamour
The 2026 festival signals a generational shift in cinema and style. South Korean auteur Park Chan-wook leads this year’s jury, joined by figures including Demi Moore, Chloé Zhao, and Stellan Skarsgård.

The New Era of Cannes Glamour
The 2026 festival signals a generational shift in cinema and style. South Korean auteur Park Chanwook leads this year’s jury, joined by figures including Demi Moore, Chloé Zhao, and Stellan Skarsgård. Their presence reflects Cannes’ increasingly international identity — where Korean cinema, European arthouse films, Hollywood prestige projects, and emerging voices from around the world coexist on the same red carpet.
Meanwhile, the official lineup features directors such as Pedro Almodóvar, Asghar Farhadi, and Hirokazu Kore-eda, reinforcing Cannes’ reputation as the epicenter of auteur cinema.
But beyond the premieres and awards, the real magic happens in the in-between moments: sunglasses at seaside cafés, midnight yacht parties, silk gowns disappearing into hotel elevators at dawn.

Cinema as Luxury Lifestyle
FEW FESTIVALS UNDERSTAND ASPIRATION THE WAY CANNES DOES.
The event exists at the intersection of art and exclusivity, where filmmakers share space with fashion editors, luxury executives, supermodels, and royalty. Cannes doesn’t merely celebrate movies — it curates a lifestyle fantasy built around elegance, intellect, and spectacle. Every detail contributes to the mythology: The Riviera sunsets.
The champagne receptions.
The couture fittings at the Carlton. The photographers shouting names in every language.
The sound of heels against the Palais staircase. For 12 days each May, Cannes becomes less a destination and more a mood — one defined by cinematic glamour and relentless beauty. More than 35,000 industry professionals and festival guests attend annually, turning the city into the center of the entertainment world.
Why Cannes Still Matters
In an era of streaming platforms and digital premieres, Cannes remains defiantly physical. Films debut before live audiences. Fashion is experienced in motion rather than through filters.
Stardom feels immediate.
That is the enduring power of the Festival de Cannes: it reminds the world that glamour is not obsolete — it simply evolves. And every May, under the Riviera sun, cinema puts on its finest clothes and walks the red carpet once again.

THE CROISETTE EFFECT
There is no red carpet quite like Cannes. At the heart of the festival sits the iconic Palais des Festivals et des Congrès, where stars ascend the famous 24 steps in gowns engineered for drama and tuxedos cut with mathematical precision. Around it, the Boulevard de la Croisette becomes a moving tableau of vintage convertibles, diamond necklaces, silk chiffon, paparazzi flashes, and whispered deals between filmmakers and fashion houses.
Unlike awards shows built around television spectacle, Cannes exists in real life — tactile, sun-drenched, and impossibly glamorous. Luxury yachts line the harbor while editors rush between premieres and private fittings. Fashion brands don’t simply sponsor Cannes; they inhabit it.
For 28 years, Chopard has crafted the festival’s legendary Palme d’Or trophy in ethical 18-carat gold, intertwining haute joaillerie with cinematic prestige. This year, the jeweler’s “Miracles” collection brings sculptural gemstones and surrealist elegance to the Riviera nights.

THE DRESS
The gown is a dramatic black fitted silhouette with an architectural design that immediately becomes the focal point of the look. Its sculpted off-shoulder neckline creates volume and movement around the upper body, contrasting with the sleek, body-contouring structure of the dress itself. The satin-like fabric reflects light with subtle shine, enhancing the luxurious mood of the editorial. The design merges classic eveningwear with avant-garde fashion elements, creating a timeless yet fashion-forward statement.
THE MODEL
The model embodies a modern luxury aesthetic with a strong, minimalist presence. The styling combines confidence and elegance through sleek accessories, dark eyewear, sculptural jewelry, and refined beauty details.
