TEAM OF THE WEEK: IOWA STATE CYCLONES Iowa State beat College Football Playoff contender No. 6 West Virginia, 30-14. The Cyclones took control of the game in the first half by scoring 20 straight points, sandwiched between two West Virginia touchdowns. In the second half, the Iowa State defense completely shut the Mountaineers’ offense down, giving up only 20 yards and forcing a safety and an interception to win the game. Iowa State has a bye this week but will host Texas Tech in Week 9.

In the eighth week of the 2012 season, No. 17 Texas Tech beat No. 23 TCU in a 56-53 triple overtime classic. Both teams were electric offensively and four quarters weren’t enough to decide a winner after TCU came back from a 10-point deficit late in the fourth quarter. Each team traded touchdowns in overtime before Texas Tech forced TCU to kick a field goal. With the game on the line, Texas Tech’s Seth Doege hit Alex Torres for the game-winning eight-yard touchdown pass.

In this episode, Notre Dame beat Air Force, 41-13.

The first half finished with Notre Dame up just 20-13 but the Fighting Irish ran away with the game in the second half, scoring 21 unanswered points. Notre Dame once again relied on its running game and defense to pick up the win, rushing for 267 yards and giving up only 216 yards.

On October 25, Fiesta Bowl Charities will give out $1 million to 200 Arizona teachers for their $5,000 wish during Wishes for Teachers Draft Day 2018 at the Ellie and Michael Ziegler Fiesta Bowl Museum.
