TEAM OF THE WEEK: BYU COUGARS BYU went on the road this week and knocked off College Football Playoff contender No. 6 Wisconsin, 24-21. The pace was set after an early touchdown from Wisconsin was immediately answered by the Cougars scoring a touchdown.

Both teams would trade touchdowns until a field goal by BYU put the Cougars up 24-21 early in the fourth quarter. After the field goal, the defense was able to stop the Badgers on the next drive and, on the final drive of the game, Wisconsin missed the game-tying, 42-yard field goal. BYU, now ranked No. 25, will be at home this week to face the McNeese Cowboys.

THIS WEEK IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL HISTORY - SEPTEMBER 26, 2009 In the fourth week of the 2009 season, the Iowa Hawkeyes went on the road and pulled off a massive upset over No. 5 Penn State, 21-10. Penn State started off strong, scoring 10 points in the first quarter but the rest of the game was all Hawkeyes as they put up 21 unanswered points. The defense and special teams were vital in this game for Iowa as they forced four turnovers and put points on the board too. The Hawkeye defense forced a safety in the second quarter and defensive end Adrian Clayborn blocked a punt that was returned for a touchdown to help Iowa take the lead and never look back.

In this episode, Notre Dame crushed visiting Purdue, 52-7. The Fighting Irish stuck to their usual formula of running the ball down the opponents’ throat and it worked perfectly, rushing for 328 yards.

The Notre Dame defense never let the Boilermakers get close, forcing five interceptions and giving up just 267 total yards.

FIESTA BOWL CHARITIES Since 1969, Chicanos Por La Causa (CPLC) has been working to improve and empower the lives of those who are dealing with oppression. Through their social services, CPLC is working to help bring these victims back into society with programs on behavioral health, housing, domestic violence and more.
