I was working on a physics problem set with a few friends in the Whitman dining hall, late into the night. I hadn't told any of them this, but it would be my birthday the next day. Just a few minutes before midnight, I stepped away to use the restroom. When I came back, none of my friends where in the booth I'd left them. Right then, I jumped up in shock when they leapt up from behind me, surprising me with a birthday wish and a group hug. (This was preCOVID19)

My favorite memories at Princeton have always been about the communities and friendships that I've been so fortunate to be able to be a part of. For my junior year spring semester, I had the privilege of studying abroad in Singapore. My closest friends saved up for months to fly out and visit me over intercession. We visited the zoo, beaches, gardens, Hawker centers, and savored a variety of authentic East, South, and Southeast Asian cuisines. It was right around the time of Chinese New Year. So, I was blessed with the opportunity to introduce and celebrate a holiday that is so important to my heritage with my best friends in an Asian country that hosted nationwide festivals and breaks.
