Exploring Binary Pathologies In Individual and Organizational Dynamics A Joint Seminar by the School of Psychology and School of Leadership Studies Wednesday, July 17, 2019, 6 - 8 PM Live Stream: https://www.youtube.com/c/FieldingEdu/live What can psychology and organizational theory tell us about the nature of binary conflicts? What can we do to resolve these conflicts? This panel of psychological and organizational experts will delve into the human tendency to create binary oppositions, dualities, and polarities that result in group and organizational pathologies. We will engage the audience in an interactive session exploring the dynamics of binary oppositions and some possible strategies for change and resolution. How might “a dialectics of mind and heart” be applicable to organizations, leadership style, and the great socio-political conflicts of our time? How might this help us achieve an ethics/ meta-ethics of social justice?

PROGRAM CLAUDE J. CLOUTIER, Ph.D., is a Practitioner-scholar with a passion for social and distributive justice and positive leadership practices. The CEO of a computer engineering company, he is keenly interested in the physics of non-linear dynamical systems of living organisms and how that informs the psychology and nature of being and becoming.

SANFORD DROB, Ph.D., is a core faculty member in Clinical Psychology at Fielding Graduate University. He holds doctorates in philosophy and clinical psychology.

He is the author of books on theology, psychology, and philosophy. He is also a narrative painter whose works traverses religious, philosophical, and psychological themes.

FOUR ARROWS (DON JACOBS), PH.D., is a faculty member in the School of Leadership Studies at Fielding Graduate University. He holds a Ph.D. in Health Psychology and an Ed.D. in Curriculum and Instruction. He has authored numerous works about Indigenous worldview, social/ecological justice, critical theory, and more.

MARC HANLAN, PH.D., has been supporting group transformations for more than 35 years. He has performed original research for the federal government and numerous private companies. He is the author of a textbook on change and completing research on the future forms of leadership and transformation.

APRIL HARRIS-BRITT, PH.D., is a faculty member of in the School of Psychology at Fielding Graduate University. She is a Health Disparities Scholar and has a Departmental Letter of Recognition for Teaching Excellence. Her publications include work on Depression of inner city youth, Emotional availability and psychosocial correlates among mothers in substance abuse treating, and moe.

LAUREN MIZOCK, PH.D., is the Director of Social Justice and Diversity concentration and a core faculty member of Fielding Graduate University. She is Chair of the Motherhood Committee for the American Psychological Association. Her areas of expertise include multicultural competence in research, transgender and gender diverse populations, and more.

DAVID BLAKE WILLIS, PH.D., is a professor of anthropology and education at Fielding Graduate University. He taught classes and did research at Soai Buddhist University in Osaka, Japan, from 19862009. His research concerns human development, transcultural communities, and social justice.
