About the Cover

Mild-mannered Joseph Jones “JJ” is a familiar face to anyone associated with the Fiber Broadband Association. He has helped lead the Fiber Broadband Association for more than a decade, championing the Fiber Connect conferences, and helping forge the organization’s mission from his hidden fortress of solitude in Knoxville, Tennessee.

What you probably didn’t know -- how could you, given his clever disguise of spectacles -- is that he also battles the forces of broadband misinformation, space-based orbiting threats, and the “good enoughers” as his alter ego of Captain Photon!

He can lift communities with fiber, shoulder the responsibility of leading the world’s largest broadband association, and see through the shenanigans of his arch-nemesis Professor Tech Agnostic. Sadly, for us, with a final cry of “When fiber leads, the future follows,” Captain Photon is hanging up his cape. He does believe, as he shared during his Chairman remarks during Fiber Connect 2023, with the opportunity ahead, we all can be heroes as we look to close the digital divide and connect rural communities with fiber.
