TALK OF THE TOWN TALK OF THE TOWN

It’s that time of the year our 118th Church and 46th Pastoral Anniversaries Celebration, with the addition of honoring Dr. Karen E. Stewart, our Executive Director of Ministries, for her 28 years as a servant-leading member of the FIBC Staff Our triple-header celebration takes place, Friday, September 8th, paying tribute to Pastor Karen, and Sunday, September 10th, with anniversaries worship services, with Dr Gary V Simpson, Leading Pastor of the legendary Concord Baptist Church of Jesus Christ, Brooklyn, New York, formerly pastored by the one and only Dr. Gardner Calvin Taylor for 42 years Please pray for our weekend activities and plan to attend as many of the three celebration activities that you can. Our 2023 FIBC Theme Focus for this month is LET’S SHIFT TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE LORD’S “BUT” CELEBRATING AS A PASTOR AND PEOPLE.
We are also in the final preparation for the “holy historic” 2023 Africa Mission Adventure Trip, September 1227, to three African countries, namely, the Republic of South Africa, where FIBC of Soweto is, Kenya, with the pastor and people of The Global Cathedral Nairobi, and Rwanda, where we will consecrate the First Institutional Baptist Church of Kigali, Rwanda, under the guidance of FIBC African Pastoral Leadership Team (APLT) members, Pastors Jean Claude and Solange Habineza. During the month of September, Pastor Mbaya Barampunde, the other member of FIBC’s APLT, will be doing mission work in his native homeland of Burundi as well as other East Africa countries, representing the Lord and FIBC in Burundi.
We also congratulate our own Sister Brenda G. Hankins, Minister of Music, for being honored with five other women by the NAACP Maricopa County Branch, Saturday, September 9th, as well as the 75th Anniversary of the Central District Missionary Baptist Association, Saturday, September 16th Providentially, both Sister Hankins and CDMBA welcomed me to FIBC and Arizona over 46 years ago.
Keep the faith and be encouraged!
