Greetings, FIBC Members and Friends,
It is said that “April showers bring May flowers”. That may not be the case for the Arizona desert, but it sure is for FIBC coming out of Revival in April with the powerful, pertinent preaching of Dr. Jacqueline A. Thompson, Senior Pastor, Allen Temple Baptist Church, Oakland, California, April 14-16.
God-willing, the April Revival showers will continue to bring May (and then some) flowers and fruit for this pastor and people. Her first message on Sunday morning during our 7:30 a.m. worship was titled, “WE STILL WIN” from II Samuel 21:15-22, and showered us with a kairos Word Its points were: (1) New giants have new equipment We must change our strategy to reach a who new generation; (2) New giants require a new level of commitment to defeat those giants; and (3) New giants require a new level of trust. What a timely Word for us as we are amidstamajortransitionatFIBC! Myfollow-upmessagetotheRevivalwastitled,“THREERsTO RETAIN REVIVAL” from Romans 12:1-2; I Corinthians 9:19-23. Its points were: (1) Renew, (2) Reach, and (3) Relevance. Lord, you sent us a Revival. Please help us to retain it! In Jesus Christ’sNamedowepray. Amen.

The power of the Holy Spirit falls on Pentecost Sunday, May 19. 50 days following the resurrection, Christians around the world honor the descent of the Holy Spirit on Mary and the apostles while they were in Jerusalem as described in Acts. Pentecost Sunday at FIBC means high and holy, spirit-filled praise and worship and a special Preached Word We want to see you and your entire family in worship on Pentecost Sunday
There is nothing like feeling the energy around Holy Week Christians around the world, and right here at FIBC, are empowered, inspired and motivated to continue to share the Good News of Christ The last Sunday in March proved to be the catalyst for the revival moments we experienced as a church family in April and we will feel the effects for some time to come
Creator of A-School, Visionary Coach, and skilled Facilitator, Thomas (Pastor Tommy) Claiborn, moves through the world with the mindset and personal motto of “living a legacy that glories The Creator” Thomas Claiborn IV has invested the last 15 years of his work experience in the non-profit, children’s ministry, and child-development sectors; spaces where work makes an impact for generations to come. Continuing in civic engagement and bridging resource gaps to better serve Arizona communities and families as a whole, he has helped many organizations and families to aim beyond success, to a place of significance
As a Community Liaison, trained in the 5 Protective Factors via Prevent Child Abuse AZ, and a Statewide Community Engagement Coordinator with First Things First, he has collaborated and engaged in many cross-sector conversations with businesses, faith-based, and policy leaders to implement practical strategies for collective impact While serving with the Arizona Faith Council (GodEnriches org), ASU’s C3 Campus Ministries, Impact College ministries, Every Nation Ministries, the Tempe Children’s Advocacy Network, and the City of Phoenix District 8, he focused on vision fulfillment, movement retention, and volunteer recruitment to support a healthy organizational/community culture.
Establishing the foundation for synergy is a top priority for Pastor Tommy. Leveraging his skills in strategic-planning and team development offers the essentials for clear and competent execution as the State of Arizona moves in the right direction: strengthening relationships with socially-responsible organizations and extending holistic family services With this in mind, the idea of “ It takes a whole village ” moves from a simple slogan to a service strategy that he lives out daily and intends to implement in each role he supports
Married for over 15 years to his bride, Candace, he enjoys spending quality time with his family. Playing and watching movies with his three young children are just a few of his favorite things.
Pastor Tommy is a Pittsburgh, PA native and received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Howard University, and continues his education with a love for reading and researching Carrying a deep intention of supporting families to develop their vision as God guides them, Pastor Tommy has the joy of applying his learnings in a way that invites children and youth with curiosity and thoughtfulness
As part of our Mother’s Day tradition of sharing from the mothers and mother-figures of FIBC, this year we thought it would be nice to hear from some of our “OG” moms, the women who make up the Century Club.
