TALK OF THE TOWN TALK OF THE TOWN

It appears to be true that “March is coming in like a lion . . . ” , at least, weatherwise. Nevertheless, we know that “the Lion of Judah” is in charge of our lives, so we have nothing to fear. February was a full and fruitful month for FIBC We celebrated Black History Month all 28 days as a pastor and people in a variety of ways The Lord provided me with opportunities to preach and teach about our history, heritage and harassment as a people of African descent at FIBC, other churches, an elementary school, a community college, a university, a military base and on Zoom. However, one of the highlights of last month was the 50th Anniversary of the Broadway House Apartments the February 25th in South Phoenix. Talking about SHIFTING TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE LORD’S “BUT”! The Broadway House Apartments are a living testimony of new birth, near crucifixion and death, and resurrection for FIBC’s own low-income housing complex. Please see some of the celebration’s photographs in this newsletter
We begin March during the first full week of the 2023 Lenten Season. It is my prayer that you are intentionally spending each day leading to Resurrection Sunday 2023 moving closer to our loving and liberating Lord Jesus Christ. Although March is a relatively “quiet” month for FIBC, our 2023 FIBC Theme Focus is LET’S SHIFT TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE LORD’S “BUT” ON A MISSION FOR HIM! That’s right! As followers of Jesus Christ, each of us has been “volun-told” by our Savior to be about Missions spreading His Good News to everyone. March 18-19 FIBC will celebrate General Mission Weekend. I thank God for our General Mission Ministry which fulfills our Purpose, Vision, Values and Strategy with enthusiasm, effectiveness and excellence week after week. Lastly, as we are coming out of the COVID-19 pandemic, please join the hundreds of FIBC members making their way back to Sunday morning worship services at 7:30 and 11:00 a m in-person, because your presence makes a difference!
Keep the faith and be encouraged!
