Our Wednesday evening series, mirrors our Noon Day Bible Study with Pastor Talley. This is your opportunity to come learn more about who we are and what we believe.
Greetings,FIBCMembersandSupporters, WelcometothemonthofloveandourAfricanAmericanHistoryandHeritage! “ . God is love,” according to I John 4:8b And thanks to St Valentine, February 14thisadayofexpressionsoflovetothosedeartous MuchobligedtoDr Carter G. Woodson, American historian, author, journalist, and the founder of the Association of African American Life and History, who established “Negro HistoryMonth”inFebruary1926,whichwecontinuetocelebratetothisday The Lord has sustained us as a people of African descent through our “3Hs” history, heritage and harassment. Last year during African American Heritage Month, the Lord led me to preach a message which included these words, “Nevertheless, it is my unwavering belief that God uses all three ‘H-words’ to describe, direct and destine persons of African descent to constitute His special people to bring life, love and liberty to all people.” So, we can say, “Thank you, Lord, for our journeytogetherasapeopleofhistory, heritageandharassment.”
All this month, we as a pastor and people are going to celebrating our “Triple Heritage” African, American and Christian We thank God for the Black Church in this land that was birthed out of resistance to systemic racism perpetrated by White Christians who thought the human beings that brought here as enslaved men and women were less human than they were. Please note that Dr. Joseph N. Evans, J. Alfred Smith, Sr. Chair, a small number of pastors and laity from across the nation developed A CREDO TO LEGATEES OF THE BLACK CHURCH TRADITION, and publicized it on January 1, 2025, as a response to Project 2025 and the current socio-political environment that is adversely affecting this nation’s pledge of “liberty and justice for all.” You can see an enhanced version of the CREDO on www.reelurbannews.com. Our 2025 FIBC Theme Focus for this month is OUR SPIRITUAL ASSIGNMENT—PASSING THE LORD’S BATON GENERATIONALLY UPLIFTING THE BLACK CHURCH TRADITION.
Let’s prioritize celebrating and preserving our history as Black people as we have entered into a governmental climate that is hostile and dismissive of who we are as a people
Keep the faith and be encouraged!
Pastor Stewart

In a relay race, any runner will tell you that handoffs are the difference between winning and losing. If you cannot move the baton smoothly from one person to the next, you do not stand a chance no matter how fast you are! When it comes to generational wealth, we have our own handoff to manage. We need to start thinking about how we will pass that wealth to the next generation today. Whether you are the first person in your family to pass on generational wealth or are next in line to inherit it, the steps you take right now can give your family the opportunity to embrace your legacy and build on it long after you are gone.
The Bible tells us families are called to manage wealth for God’s glory, and it is a good thing to pass that wealth down to the next generation. Proverbs 13:22 (NKJV) says, “A good man leaves an inheritance to his children's children.”
Keep in mind, your wealth is not the only thing being passed down once you are gone. The responsibility to manage that wealth is passed down to the next generation too. Unfortunately, we are not doing an excellent job of setting up the next generation for that responsibility.
Before you can pass down generational wealth, you first must build wealth! Remember, building wealth is a marathon, not a sprint. It is a process that takes time, intentionality, and consistency. And there are no shortcuts. Here are just a few tips in building generational wealth: Create a Firm Financial Foundation 1. Invest 15% of Your Income for Retirement 2. Pay Off Your House Early 3. Teach Your Kids About Money 4.
Remember, generational wealth is not just about money; it is about the values, opportunities, and legacies you leave behind for your loved ones. By instilling financial literacy in future generations, you can ensure that your legacy endures and continues to make a positive impact for years to come.
As we endeavor to execute on our 2025 church in conjunction with the Men’s Ministry theme to minister in a manner that that No Man is Left Behind., we must run our individual race in lock step with God’s plan and purpose for our lives so that we effectively pass the baton to assure that no man or generation is left behind either financially or spiritually.

This month we want to acknowledge Pastor James Harris, the new Governance Council chair for his commitment to ministry and kingdom. Pastoring has been on his heart since he acknowledged the calling to preach and has served as a pastor for 28 years.
He strongly believes in the work and ministry of FIBC and believes that Pastor Stewart has equipped us for what lies ahead through sermons and leadership development. Pastor Harris sees FIBC striving to work as "One" in seeking God's word, will, and ways.
We want to see every man involved and engaged with the Men’s Ministry. In addition to the Sunday Bible Study class there are also monthly meetings and fellowship gatherings throughout the year, along with Men’s Month and Sunday, held in October. We want to see every man connected and engaged in Men’s Ministry life at FIBC.
