1. Visit friendsoftheholyland.org.uk/ pentecost22 2. Follow the instructions to register for the challenge and set up your own fundraising page 3. Teams: on the registration form, you can create a team and invite teammates, or find and join an existing team - leave this out to take part as an individual 4. Set your fundraising target 5. Decide how you’re going to take part - you could walk, run, swim, cycle or ride a donkey!

6. Share the link to your fundraising page, so your friends and family can sponsor you

When to start

You can start as soon as you’ve set up your fundraising page! How about today?

Aim to finish by Pentecost Sunday, 5 June (but if you need a little longer, that’s okay).

7. Update your mileage after each outing - and check out where you’ve got to on Google Streetview!

Strava: If you already use the Strava fitness tracker on your phone, it can automatically record your mileage and upload it to the map for you! Check the instructions online to set this up.

Join in as a team: Club together with a group from your church or family, and combine your miles! To set up a team page, be sure to click the ‘team’ option as you register. You can then invite others to join your team.

How to raise funds

Choose a fundraising target: You can set your own goal for how much you’d like to raise. How about: • £750 – could fully train a new electrician or plumber • £2,000 - could pay a year’s tuition for a nurse • Or, set your own goal - any amount you would like to raise!

Share your page

Once you’ve registered, you’ll have your own fundraising page on the Enthuse website.

The challenge is all about raising funds for Friends of the Holy Land so we can help Christian communities build a future beyond the pandemic. So be sure to share your fundraising page far and wide!

Post it on your social media, send the link to family and friends and announce your fundraiser in church. They can sponsor you online at any time before, during or after your challenge.

What you’ll see on your virtual journey

As you complete enough miles you’ll pass certain waypoints on the map, like Nablus, Ramallah and Jerusalem.

You will get a taste of the holy sites and discover some rarely-visited Christian communities living along the route, through special emails with stories and videos from the Christian communities in that area.

For instance, as you arrive in Zababdeh, you’ll hear from a church leader about what life is like there and how his church serves the community.

The further you walk, the more you’ll discover – and the more lives you’ll impact.

A prayer for the journey As you get out into your local area or explore your Holy Land route online, why not pray a Pentecost prayer: “We pray for the young people of the Holy Land and their families; that the Holy Spirit will inspire them to develop their gifts, build a stable livelihood, and bring hope for a bright future as they emerge from the pandemic.”
