Before o crew begins, the project must have been thoroughly worked out. Careful ond ac­ curate plans hove been drown to scale. These plans are important. They set the standard for workers to follow The plans of our building ore in the hands of the Boord of Trustees, Administration, ond Faculty. The students elect student councils and officers who plan directly with the administra­ tion and student body.

This yeor The Junior High fooTboll Team wan half of rhe1r games. Mr. Re1tnauer, who coached the Team, reported thot the turnout this year was very good. The highlight of the seoson wos o thrilling game with San Dimas which was won : by 1he Claremont learn in the lost few seconds, by a 7-2 score A lorge squod, showing promising potenliol1ties, turned out for both the light­ weight and heavyweight bosketboll teoms, which were coached by Mr Jones.

Interest, good team spirit and co-operation were displayed by members of both teams. The lightweight Team won half of their gomes, while the heavywP.ight team defeated Ontario, Norton, La Verne and San Dimas, and last to Upland, Glendora, and 29 Palms The members of the track. team hove olso shown consideroble enthusiasm for track. events. Coach Jones feels that there are good prospech for the future track team.

framing is on extremely important step in construction. The uprights are the supports of the structure.

The Sophomores and Juniors ore the uprights of our building.

They ore efficiently working towards the completion as Seniors.

These two classes, throughout the year, hove been raising money for various projects, ond constantly preparing themselves for graduation.

The Sophomore class has expertly taken its place this year in the school structure. In planning for and giving the SophomOre class dance, they developed a class unity which was present all year. Members of the class were a'c"tive in sports, having representatives on Varsity, and B teams and G.A.A. The class is �talented group with people participating in the school musical organizations and in the talent show. This class will continue being a strengthening force in the school structure.

The fcA.ir braces which support o ceiling ore similar to the four important elements necessary for an ideal athlete, mental, physical, moral and spiritual strength. No one attitude con out­ weigh another. Such is the case with the four braces. They must be equal in height to assure onâ&#x20AC;˘even ceiling. C.H.S. students con be justly proud of their athletic achievements. These players hove done their utmost to fulfill our expectations, and have won our admiration and appreciation. The building processes continue as our sports and activities progress.

Probably the best ployed game

was the 20-7 Claremont victory over California Junior Republic.

There was o great deal of similarity between the 1952-53 Season and the one this year. The 'Pack went undefeated in nine league games, only to lose to Puente before going info the CIF playoffs.

Tustin was toppled In the first playoff, 54-36, but Chula Vista come from behind to nip the Wolves 44-41 in the semi-finals. Claremont made o good showing in pre-season games and took the Consolation Trophy in the Chino Tournament.

Captain Mike Gr� the league in scoring with 178 points, and was chosen by the Helms .

Preside� Pat Martinez A boy on the varsity teom, who hos won a letter 1n a moior sport, hos spent long hours of proc­ ltce and training as o member of the junior high and J.V. squads. These hours, un-noticed by most of the student body, ore comporoble to the roughing-in processes in construction. One connol see the actual value of these processes, but without them, the building would be weak and incomplete. The Lettermen hove worked to strengthen their athletic ability, and though the· job is not yet completed, the work is toking shape.

Music is o valuable port in the building processes, and o mo1or foctor in the lives of C.H.S. students. Members of the senior orchestra group participated in several honor and district orchestras throughout the yeor, if!cluding the Tri­ County Music Festival. The group as o whole played at the Christmas program, P.F.A. meetings, and received excellent ratings in d,strict competition. Junior High instrumentol1s1s ployed for the Spring Ploy Festival and work constantly

to improve their technique. Both gtoups gained in muslCol knowledge, greatly en/oying their orchestra work this year.

Early lost fall we were ,n complete bewilderment ofter the first visit from our printer who informed vs our plans were good, but needed more life. We were devoid of new ideas and did not know where to beg,n, until Miss Palmer unintent,onally come to our rescue. She spent long hours with us, helping to arrange our pictures, even when the work lasted for into the night

Her assistance did not stop with the layout, for we continued to seek her advice

on any artistic problem, espec,olty the cover, which she and Kathy designed. There ore few activi­ ties in the r.chool that do not show the effect of Miss Palmer's guiding hand, so we feel fortunate indeed to hove hod her help. Many others joined ,n to produce the yearbook, Mr. Haynes in portrait photography, Mr. Frampton the commerc1ol work, and Mr. Hubbell of the Advertising Production Service, Monrovia, ;6ur publisher, was certainly the man behind the scenes.
