On February 8, a wave of excitement swept through the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel as the FHC Credit Union group came together for the highly anticipated Blast Off staff event. Under the theme “Innovate. Elevate. Celebrate.” team members from all branches and offices converged to set the tone for an ambitious and transformative year ahead.

As team members eagerly entered the building, they were greeted by a captivating sight that stirred memories and evoked nostalgia. The entrance had been transformed into a mesmerizing memory lane, adorned with FHC Blast Off memorabilia from previous years, showcasing the remarkable journey of the FHC Credit Union. From photographs capturing moments of triumph to momentos symbolizing milestones achieved, the display served as a poignant reminder of how far FHC has come.

The event, hosted by the illustrious Master of Ceremonies, Talia Soares, set the stage for an afternoon filled with inspiration, camaraderie, and celebration. As team members mingled and exchanged greetings, the atmosphere buzzed with anticipation for what promised to be a memorable occasion.

With unwavering determination, Roxann Linton, CEO, made a presentation to team members and articulated our bold vision for the future, charting a course to elevate FHC to new heights and solidify its position as the credit union of choice for all Jamaicans. Emphasising the importance of innovation, inclusivity, and community engagement, the CEO outlined ambitious goals aimed at enhancing member satisfaction, expanding outreach initiatives, and driving sustainable growth.

Another highlight of the afternoon was the guest speaker, Taneisha Ingleton, Managing Director of Heart NSTA/Trust, whose empowering message resonated deeply with the audience. Ingleton’s insights and wisdom served as a catalyst for reflection and motivation, inspiring team members to embrace innovation and strive for excellence in their endeavours.

The annual occasion also featured a special segment dedicated to acknowledging the outstanding contributions of team members throughout the previous financial year. From exemplary customer service to innovative problem-solving, individuals were recognized and celebrated for their dedication and commitment to the FHC family.

As the afternoon progressed, the energy soared to new heights with the introduction of karaoke entertainment segment. Team members showcased their vocal talents unleashed their inner star their inner stars as they belted out popular tunes. Throughout the event, the spirit of unity and collaboration was palpable, reinforcing FHC’s commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive work environment.

As the curtains closed on the 2024 Blast Off, the echoes of inspiration lingered in the air, setting the stage for a year filled with innovation, growth, and celebration. With hearts uplifted and spirits soaring, team members departed with renewed enthusiasm, ready to embark on a journey of excellence and achievement.

Amidst the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, FHC Credit Union spared no effort in spreading the joy of the season with its cherished members through the Jolly Jubilee Lunch Hour Concert. Held in December, this spectacular event transformed the atmosphere into a festive wonderland, delighting attendees with entertainment, giveaways, and the spirit of camaraderie.

Members of FHC Credit Union were treated to a day brimming with merriment and excitement as they immersed themselves in the sights and sounds of the Jolly Jubilee.

One of the highlights of the day was the captivating lineup of performances that dazzled the audience throughout the event. From soulful melodies to rhythmic beats, the stage came alive with talent as artists such as Donna Pellington, the JIS Chorale, The Prodigies, Karim Chang, Daniel-John Jackson, Old Harbour High School Choir, Trinelle Robinson, Nikeisha Barnes, and Carey Sayles took center stage.

Their performances resonated with the audience, sparking laughter and spreading joy as attendees tapped their feet and swayed to the infectious rhythms. Each artist brought their unique flair to the stage, creating an unforgettable experience that left a lasting impression on all who attended.

Adding to the festive atmosphere, Nissan Jamaica joined the celebration, showcasing their latest motor vehicles and added an element of excitement to the event. Attendees had the opportunity to explore the sleek designs and innovative features of Nissan’s new vehicles.

Throughout the day, attendees were also treated to giveaways and surprises, adding an element of excitement and anticipation to the proceedings. From festive treats to exclusive gifts, FHC Credit Union spared no expense in ensuring that every member felt appreciated and valued during this special event.

The competition is on for innovative minds to seize the opportunity to propel their business dreams to new heights as they vie for the FHC Entrepreneur of the Year Award. The coveted Entrepreneur Awards, with each grant valued at an impressive $500,000.00, beckon individuals to submit their business plans for consideration. Eligibility remains open to students from all faculties of recognized tertiary institutions, as well as individuals aged 18 to 35, reflecting FHC’s commitment to inclusivity and diversity in entrepreneurship.

Amidst the anticipation surrounding this year’s FHC Entrepreneur Awards, a spotlight shines on the transformative power of the Incubator Session, a cornerstone of FHC’s commitment to cultivating entrepreneurial excellence. Last year’s Incubator Session builds upon the resounding success of its inaugural run, which took place in 2022, providing invaluable coaching and guidance to the esteemed cohort of awardees.

The 2023 Entrepreneur Awards Incubator Session unfolded as a series of three empowering gatherings, each meticulously curated to equip awardees with the tools and insights necessary to navigate the intricate landscape of entrepreneurship. Led by the seasoned facilitator, Business Action Coach, Arlene Martin, the sessions served as a crucible for innovation and growth, fostering an environment where ideas flourished and aspirations soared.

“Engaging with the winners during the Incubator Session has been an inspiring journey, witnessing their passion and dedication first hand,” shared Arlene Martin, reflecting on the transformative discussions held with the victorious entrepreneurs.

At the heart of the Incubator Session lay a commitment to personalized coaching and mentorship, with each session tailored to address the unique needs and challenges of the aspiring entrepreneurs. From refining business strategies to honing presentation skills, the Incubator Session provided a comprehensive toolkit for success, empowering awardees to chart their path with confidence and conviction.

“Our goal during the Incubator Session was to empower these young entrepreneurs with the tools and insights they need to succeed in today’s competitive business landscape,” stated Michelle Tracey, Assistant General Manager of Marketing, Communications, and Member Experience at FHC Credit Union, emphasizing the dedication to equipping participants with the necessary resources for success.

The culmination of the Incubator Session took centre stage at FHC’s Credit Union Head Office, where awardees gathered for a final session brimming with anticipation and possibility. The session included esteemed guest presenters, including Javin Williams, CEO of Herboo Botanicals and 2013 recipient of the FHC Entrepreneur Awards along with Jason Ferguson Manager of FHC’s Micro and Small Business Loan Unit.

“As a past recipient of the FHC Entrepreneur Award, it’s an honour to return as a guest presenter to share my experiences with the next generation of innovators,” expressed Williams, underscoring the significance of giving back to the entrepreneurial community.

From navigating market dynamics to securing financing, the guest presenters shared pearls of wisdom that resonated deeply with the eager awardees, igniting sparks of innovation and ambition.

As the countdown to the next Entrepreneur Awards draws nearer, the stage is set for a new generation of trailblazers to step forward and showcase their innovative prowess.
