On December 5, 2021, The Buddha’s Light International Association (BLIA) Toronto Chapter hosted its Annual General Meeting (AGM) with almost 200 members in attendance. The BLIA Toronto Chapter put together a year-in-review presentation with photos taken at various events and functions. BLIA members celebrated their collective achievements over the course of 2021. Everyone was very proud to be a part of this wonderful organization.
The gathering started with opening remarks by the President of the BLIA Toronto Chapter, Ms. Mabel Ho. She thanked all members for their dedication and participation to BLIA projects and initiatives. President Ho then presented the BLIA Toronto Chapter’s 2021 annual report, marked with impressive achievements despite the challenges of the ongoing pandemic. Highlights of the President’s report included participation in the BLIA 2021 Global Buddhism Exam, the BLIA 2021 Beauty of Buddha’s Light – Faith & Legacy Photo Contest, the 2021 BLIA North America Virtual Fellowship Meeting, and the 2021 North America Sounds of The Human World Singing Concert. The BLIA Toronto Chapter also organized 20 online projects and programs in addition to the 670 activities hosted by the various affiliated subchapters. The year 2021 has indeed been blessed with many accomplishments.
The Abbess of Fo Guang Shan Temple of Toronto, Venerable Chueh Fan offered words of encouragement. She pointed out that while we celebrate the joy of collective success, we have to understand that serving others with a compassionate heart is an opportunity to cultivate merits and virtue.
President Ho concluded the meeting by stating the BLIA Toronto Chapter will continue to be invested in community projects and initiatives in the year 2022 under the theme of “Wisdom and Innovation.” ◆
