FLORIDA GULF COAST UNIVERSITY TRANSFER ADMISSIONS

Finish what you started!

No matter what you previously studied, or how long it’s been since you’ve stepped inside a classroom, FGCU is the perfect place to finish your degree. We offer 60+ majors, easy credit transfers, affordability, and scholarships for transfer students. Our Transfer Admission Team caters to each student who makes the smart decision to transfer and earn an FGCU bachelor’s degree. The team provides one-onone assistance with the admissions application, the course articulation tool that determines how courses will transfer, information about transfer scholarships, and much more.

Who are our transfer students?

Our transfer students come from all walks of life, varying in age and life experience. They are recent high school graduates, mid-career professionals changing jobs, homemakers looking to re-enter the workforce, veterans returning from duty and senior citizens.

You are considered a transfer student if you have earned 12 or more college credits after graduating from high school or earning a GED. This includes your in-progress coursework at another institution.

Students who will have earned less than 12 credit hours before starting at FGCU are designated as first-time-in-college students and should complete the freshman application.

We are a transfer-friendly institution, so our students benefit from a simple, smooth transition to begin earning an FGCU degree. Features include:

} Easy admission requirements

} Guaranteed admission with an AA*

} Test scores not required with 30+ college credits (including collegelevel math and English with a C or better)

} High School transcripts not required with 30+ college credits (including college-level math and English with a C or better)

} Personalized, flexible credit transfers

} Low tuition and fees (tuition has not increased in 9 years)

} Generous transfer scholarships and financial aid resources

} Paths to earn college credit through exams and prior learning assessment

*Associate in Arts degree from a public Florida College or State University System institution. Admission to FGCU does not guarantee admission to one of the limited or selective admission programs.

Make the most of your earned college credits at FGCU.

How credits transfer

Transfer equivalency tool

Learn how credits will transfer using the transfer equivalency tool, which offers an unofficial, preliminary estimation. Also refer to this tool during the pre-admissions stage to determine how courses completed at other institutions equate to FGCU courses. For more information on how courses apply to specific academic programs, contact an academic advisor. fgcu.edu/TransferTool

Sources of credits

Degree acceleration programs (AP, CLEP, IB Equivalencies)

FGCU awards up to 45 credit hours of Advance Placement (AP), College Level

Examination Program (CLEP), Advanced International Certificate of Education programs (AICE) or the International Baccalaureate Program (IB) towards a degree if an applicant meets the qualifiers or standards for each program.

Military service credit

Credit is awarded based on recommendations of American Council on Education (ACE) and the evaluation of equivalency to FGCU courses. FGCU awards up to 45 military service credits and accepts official transcripts from ACE, AARTS and SMART.

Reverse transfer

Reverse transfer provides eligible students the opportunity to earn the Associate in Arts (AA) degree even after they have transferred to FGCU. Reverse transfer is an articulation agreement to award the AA degree to eligible students who transfer prior to earning the AA degree from a Florida public college (known as the Florida College System, or FCS) and subsequently complete the AA degree requirements at FGCU. fgcu.edu/ReverseTransfer

Transfer partnerships

FGCU’s transfer program, Destination FGCU, provides students from partner colleges (Florida SouthWestern State College and State College of Florida) with the tools and guidance they need to easily and successfully transfer to FGCU. Participants transferring from partner colleges can opt in at fgcu.edu/destinationfgcu to begin receiving benefits, such as guaranteed admission with an earned AA degree, an application fee waiver code, access to FGCU transfer counselors and time-saving transfer guides.
