Hurricane Evacuation Advice Hurricane Season: June 1–November 30

Try and keep your gas tank full as soon as news of a hurricane offshore arises. Store bottled drinking water in case of water contamination or loss after a disaster; you can also fill your bathtub and use 1/8 teaspoon of unscented bleach per gallon of water to purify for drinking. Stock up on flashlights, batteries and purchase a battery operated radio in case of power outages. Use a clean trash can with a lid to make your evacuation kit. Include non-perishable food, pillows, blankets, prescription medicines, toiletry items, and some extra cash (assume that power will be lost and ATMs won’t be working).
