Sergeant Mat Sanders Officer Bill Ahleldt Officer DaleeWilkinson
OnApril25,2006,at approximately3:30a.m., OfficerDaLeeWilkinson, OfficerBillAhlfeldtandSergeantMatSandersresponded toamalethreateningtocommitsuicidebyhanginghimself. Thecaller,whohadbeenon thephonewiththesuicidal male,didnothaveanexact address,andonlyknewitwas anapartmentsomewhereby PrairieatSt.Johns.
OfficerWilkinsonwasable tolocatethesuicidalperson's carandusedtheregistration tofindtheapartment.Theofficersletthemselvesintothe apartmentandfoundthevictim hangingbytheneckfroma belttiedtoachandelier. TheofficersnotifiedSergeant Sanders,whowasinthenext building.SergeantSanders sprintedfromthenextbuildingtotheapartmentwherethe officerswerelocated.Helifted andsupportedthevictim's bodyandinstructedofficers tocutthebeltthevictimwas hangingfrom.SergeantSandersandOfficerWilkinsonthen immediatelybeganresuscitationefforts.
OfficerAhlfeldtputtheAEDintouseandthentook overthechestcompressions.SergeantSanders, OfficerWilkinson,andOfficerAhlfeldtcontinued resuscitationeffortsandbreathingforthevictimuntil theywererelievedbyEMSpersonnel.
Asaresultoftheactionsperformedbytheseofficers thevictimwasresuscitatedandsurvived.

TammyLynkisthedepartment propertyandevidencemanager andishelpingleadthedepartment throughadramatictransition. Tammyleftherswornposition asadetectiveandtookonanew civilianpositionthathadjustbeen created.Werecentlyoverhauled ourpropertyandevidence facilities,whichincludeda completeremodelingofour evidenceroomandthecreation ofanewstoragespaceforlarge
propertysuchasvehiclesatthe7thAvenuebuilding. Wealsocompletelychangedhowwedisposeofunclaimedpropertyandevidence.Tammyisworkingwith Propertyroom.comtoauctionpropertyontheInternet. Thishasleadtoimprovedreturnsandincreased efficienciesforthedepartment.Shehasalsobeen instrumentalinthecreationofournewevidence handlingpolicyandanevidencepackagingmanual. Tammyhandledthesedifficulttaskswithcompetence andleadershipthatguaranteedsuccess.
Tammyhassuccessfullyhelpedguideusthrougheach ofthesetransitions. beunderestimated. Departmentremains progressivedepartments
