RESULTS DAY PROCEDURE
Accessing your results
• You will be able to access your results via https://candidates.ibo.org/ at 13:45 (GMT)/14:45 (BST) on 6th July. Mozilla Firefox is the suggested browser for this
• The IB produces a helpful Results Guide for candidates. This can be found when you login to the IB Candidates webpage.
• Make sure you have your personal code and your unique personal identification number (PIN) at hand (emailed to you by Ms Gueganton). These are the same log-in details you used to upload your coursework. Enter your details manually as they are case-sensitive.
• Component grades detailing your marks by paper as well as coursework mark(s) are available from 13:00 on 7th July. These will be emailed to you by Ms Gueganton.
• Grade boundaries will be available from 13:00 on 7th July. These will be put onto the IB Results Firefly Page (linked above).
Re-mark requests
Before asking for a re-mark, otherwise known as an Enquiry Upon Results (EUR), please wait until:
1. The component grades (including coursework grades (IAs)) and grade boundaries are published at 13:00 (BST) on 7th July as any Enquiry Upon Results (EUR) must be informed by the component grade data; and 2. You have spoken to the Head of Department of the subject in question, or Ms Gueganton if related to ToK or the EE. Be aware that your grade could go up, down or remain the same.
• You can request a re-mark of any externally assessed materials for a subject. If you do this, all the written examination papers as well as any externally assessed IAs (coursework) are re-marked. You cannot ask for only specific papers/coursework to be re-marked
• You can request a re-mark of the Extended Essay and ToK Essay.
• Internally assessed work cannot be challenged on an individual basis.

• Complete the Category 1 Consent Form below and return to Ms Gueganton (S Gueganton@fettes.com)
• Payment of the re-mark fee (£78 per subject) can be made through Flywire on https://fettescollege-misc.flywire.com/ . Please send a screenshot of the payment confirmation with your Consent Form so your re-mark can be processed ASAP.
• If a younger sibling will be at Fettes in 2026-27, you can request for this charge to be added to their Autumn Bill instead.
• If a re-mark leads to an increased grade, you will receive a refund of the re-mark fee on 15th September (once the exam session is closed).
• While the final date for a re-mark request is 15th September, we strongly recommend that these requests are submitted as soon as possible and by Friday 10th July as they can take up to three weeks for the IB to process (18 working days).
November Exam Session
• The deadline for applying to re-sit an IB exam in November is 29th July.
• The subject fee is £76 per subject.
• If it seems likely that sitting the exams is needed, you should request registration and then withdraw if it is later not needed because a university place has been secured. If you withdraw after 29th July, no fee refunds are possible.
• It is sometimes the case that the decision to sit exams in November depends upon the outcome of a re-mark. It can happen that requests for re-marking exams are not back before the deadline for the November exam session entries. If the eventual outcome of the re-mark is successful and the grade goes up, the IB will refund any costs incurred.
• Previously achieved coursework marks are carried forward for November re-sits.
• You can sit exams in up to three exam sessions. The best score you achieve in any single subject in any single session is what goes on your Diploma (super-score system). Therefore, a re-sit cannot result in a lower grade, only a higher one.
• To ask for a re-sit, you need to email Ms Gueganton (S.Gueganton@fettes.com) and request to be registered for the November exams and specify which subject(s) you wish to re-sit. Again, payment of the fees must be made promptly through Flywire on https://fettescollege-misc.flywire.com Please send a screenshot of the payment confirmation with your Consent Form so your re-sit request can be processed ASAP.
CATEGORY 1 ENQUIRY UPON RESULTS IB CANDIDATE CONSENT FORM 2026

If an enquiry about the result of one of your subjects is made after your subject grade has been issued, there are three possible outcomes:
o Your original grade is confirmed as correct, and there is no change to your grade
o Your original grade is raised so that your final grade may be higher than the original grade you received
o Your original grade is lowered so that your final grade may be lower than the original grade you received
In order to proceed with the category 1 enquiry, you must complete in full and sign the form below. This tells us that you have understood what the outcome might be and that you give your consent to the enquiry being made. Please return this form to Ms Gueganton, along with a screenshot of the payment for the re-mark fee, by 17:00 on Friday 10th July 2026 Forms received after this date may not be processed until after 13th August. Please only use this form for an enquiry upon results.

Important Next Steps
• If you have not already changed your correspondence and email addresses with UCAS you must do so now. Fettes College will not be responsible for any UCAS or university mail which is delivered here during the holiday period. Your school email address will no longer function after the end of September.
• If you have not already sorted out your financial arrangements for university, do so now. All information is available to you through www.ucas.com. Please note that the responsibility for organising your finance rests with you and your parents.
• Make your contingency plans now. This applies to everyone and is especially important if you are holding only one offer.
• Make sure you know how Clearing works now (www.ucas.com). Information will also be available on Track so make sure you have your username and password. You are eligible for Clearing only if you do not qualify for either Conditional Firm or Conditional Insurance and both reject you at this point. Clearing is entirely electronic.
• You should not be away on holiday without reliable access to the internet when the results come out, to ensure you can access support as needed.
Results Day
• Confirmation of place: If you have qualified for your place, you will receive confirmation from UCAS and/or the university in due course. Please keep an eye on your Track account but do not worry if this takes a little time. You do not need to do anything until Track or your university asks you to.
• Deferred Entry/ Change of Details: if you want to change your date of entry or negotiate a change to another course, you should contact the university directly. If you want to negotiate a gap year but the university says they want you to start in 2026, please think carefully before withdrawing. You may have qualified for the place offered, but you may not have matched your predictions. Any weaknesses in your achievement will be apparent, on a reapplication, and your chances of getting a second offer for 2027 for the same university may be in doubt. Consider deferring your gap year until after you have graduated.
• Unmet conditions: If you have not qualified for your place and are waiting for a remark, you should contact your university immediately. Do not wait for the outcome of the remark as this can take time, and it might be better to look for a place in Clearing rather than wait.
• If you have not qualified for your place and are not eligible for a remark, you may want to contact your universities directly regardless to find out whether there is any chance of your place being confirmed. That said, ringing universities for information which is already available on Track is not a good idea.
• If you have not qualified for entry into your firm or insurance university and neither has recorded a decision on Track: ring your universities but be prepared to be patient. If you have been careful enough to keep a phone number which gives you direct access to a department, phone them.
• Note: UCAS and universities do not want to hear from your parents or from the school; they will discuss your application only with you or with the person you have nominated on your UCAS form.
• If you haven’t met the conditions for either firm or insurance offer but have been offered a change of course or year, this will be indicated on Track. You are not obliged to accept this. Your options will be shown on Track.
• If you have not qualified for your firm or insurance offer but nevertheless have a place confirmed (whether through discussion with the university, a change of course or Clearing), please let Mrs Davies know by email as a courtesy to all the staff who have supported you – and we can congratulate you!
• If you have not qualified for entry into your firm or insurance university, you are eligible for Clearing. Access to Clearing is through Track. If you decide to take a gap year and re-apply for UCAS 2027, then please let Mrs Caroline Davies (cl.davies@fettes.com) know.
• Commitment at Confirmation: If you are confirmed for a university place, you are expected to take it up. If you choose not to take up the place, you must withdraw completely from this year’s UCAS cycle and cannot then seek readmission through another UCAS-participating institution.
Reapplication for 2027 entry
• If you decide to re-apply to university next year it is most important that you let Mr Smith rf.smith@fettes.com know as soon as possible. You must register through Fettes using the buzzword (industria827) if you want a reference from us. We do not supply references for independent applications.
• Be prepared to re-write your Personal Statement. Although you can use your previous Personal Statement, a repetition of this year’s personal statement will suggest that you are not sufficiently motivated to improve your chances of gaining a place. The structure for next year’s personal statement is also different.
• You should pay the UCAS fee by card online as your application will not be processed until this has been done.
• The later you leave reapplication, the less likely it is that you will achieve the place you want. We cannot guarantee that last-minute applications will reach UCAS by the published deadline. The same applies to late applications for universities in the USA and other countries.
