About LIGHTS

Over the past two years, LIGHTS at Fernwood has attracted more than 25,000 visitors and generated over $400,000 in revenue to support our mission to enrich people's lives by awakening and deepening their appreciation of nature. Visitors come from across southwest Michigan and northwest Indiana and beyond.

Electronic media has been a very effective way to reach our audience with more than 13,000 friends on Facebook, 4,000 followers on Instagram, and 13,000 recipients of Fernwood's monthly e-newsletter. Our website, which attracts nearly 100,000 annual visits, is also useful for communicating with our growing number of constituents, including nearly 30,000 visitors and 2,500 member households. We utilized all these interfaces, onsite banners, and video screens to acknowledge and promote our LIGHTS 2022 supporters and sponsors.

LIGHTS 2023 is expanding from 21 to 29 nights between November 24, 2023, and January 6, 2024. We will also be creating new illuminated experiences for our guests.

This year Fernwood is partnering with a regional communications firm to help us develop a comprehensive and far-reaching marketing and public relations plan to reach an increased attendance goal of 18,000 guests, as well as our continued relationship with Matt Rudkin, one of the region's leading meteorologists whose daily social media posts reach more than 300,000 individuals. Fernwood will also return to producing its quarterly calendar with a distribution of approximately 10,000 copies, and LIGHTS 2023 will be prominently featured in the upcoming fall edition.

Your investment will bring joy to thousands of children and adults this holiday season and provide your organization with the opportunity to showcase your commitment to the greater southwest Michigan and northwest Indiana communities. Early promotion and recognition for our supporters has begun this summer, with exclusive advance member tickets going on sale in early October.
