NUBLADO VARIANDO A PARCIAL. Partially CloudY. Nublado variando a parcial es una exposición colectiva constituida por tres obras: Anomalía, Detrimento y Hablamientos, vinculadas a la identidad e imagen cotidiana de la ciudad de Concepción, interpretada desde los lenguajes del dibujo y la fotografía. El título de la muestra remite a una de las principales características de Concepción: su clima inestable e impredecible, que oscila entre mantos de nubes grises y cielos despejados.

Esta situación se relaciona con la disposición anímica de sus habitantes en tanto las variaciones climáticas influyen en su temperamento, suscitando una atmósfera social que fluctúa de indolente y pasiva, a un estado afable y activo. Cada obra trabaja una problemática distinta desde el territorio y contexto local, proyectando el carácter temperamental ambiguo de la ciudad desde perspectivas divergentes.

Partially cloudy is a collective exhibition constituted by three works of art: Anomalia, Detrimento and Hablamientos, linked to Concepción city’s identity and its daily life image.

The title of this exhibition refers to one of Concepción’s key features: its unstable and unpredictable weather, which oscillates between cloudy and clear skies. This situation relates to the city’s inhabitants’ mood, since the climatic variations influence their temper, making the social atmosphere change from indolent and passive, to congenial and active. Each work refers to a different situation about the local territory and context, projecting the city’s ambiguous temper from divergent perspectives.

Dar la libertad es una formalidad superficial.

La libertad profunda se toma.

Y tomarla es una lucha continua consigo mismo, aceptando al otro como ser humano.

Este taller de Producción visual de dos semestres cierra el proceso para optar al título de Productor Visual, y una vez concluido, me ha llevado a preguntarme sobre dos asuntos principalmente. En primer lugar, ¿cómo guiar propuestas visuales de otros? Desde un plano profesional, debiera ser fácil, es parte del trabajo encomendado y para el cual uno debe responder en virtud de competencias. Sin embargo, no olvido que estamos en el territorio del arte, y no en el de las lógicas que mueven a la mayoría del mundo. A partir de ello, surge la segunda pregunta: ¿desde cuándo estamos en este nuevo estado, que hace que una obra sea un cuerpo de procesos? Sin duda debe haber un punto difuso en el mapa de la Historia del Arte y de las academias, sin embargo, en presencia del trabajo de estos jóvenes artistas me doy cuenta que, como artistas y enseñantes hemos madurado; la academia en su evolución al taller y a

los estudios de artistas se ha vuelto más heterogénea y rica en su nuevo entorno de acción proyectual, transformando la experiencia y proceso del proyecto de arte en algo más valioso que la sola intención de obra como producto, en tanto objeto que admirar y transar.

Los talleres en ningún caso son un anacronismo. Están vivos y nos permitimos que en este pequeño taller así lo fuera, a través del diálogo, un constante sobrevolar el terreno de lo posible. Ir marcando la cartografía de lo necesario, resguardando que la producción de obra se constituyese en un cuerpo coherente, viable y sobre todo cargado de sentido.

This two-semesters workshop of visual production closes the process to apply for the title of Visual Producer, and once is concluded, it has drive me to ask myself about two issues mainly. First, how to guide visual proposals of others? From a profesional level, it should be easy, its part of the entrusted work, and for which one must answer in virtue of the competences.

Nevertheless, I do not forget that we are in the field of art, and not in the field of logics that move most of the world. From that point, comes the second question: From when we are in this new status, that makes a play a body of processes? Undoubtely the must be a diffuse point in the map of the history of art and the academies, nonetheless, in pressence of the work of these young artists I can realize that, as artists and teachers we have grown up; the academy on its evolution to the workshop and the studios of artists have become more heterogeneous and rich on its nre surrounding of projective action,

transforming the experience and process of the project of art in something more valuable that the only intention of work as a product, as object of admiral and transact.

The workshops are in no case an anachronism. They are alive and we permitted it on this little workshop, throughout dialogue, a constant overvalorate the filed of possible. Marking the cartography of the necessary, safeguarding that the production of work constitute a coherent body, viable and moreover loaded of sense.

NUBLADO VARIANDO A PARCIAL. , UNA BuSQUEDA DE SENTIDO.

Los procesos creativos se desarrollan de manera misteriosa. No es que estén exentos de rigurosidad sino más bien se producen en los lindes que desarman la razón, la comprensión, el azar y el trabajo. Y es que el vértice que configura saca filo a una arista difícil de definir pero no por ello menos punzante, menos precisa, menos eficaz.

Por ello el esfuerzo de sistematizarlo en una estructura académica pareciera el arrojo contraproducente de controlar la esencia de aquello que se quiere brioso y resuelto. Como si a la ilusión que nos propone el mago le contestáramos con la escritura del truco, como si al secreto deseo del amor le encendiéramos la luz. Y es posible que algo de eso tenga todo esto pero también y sobre todo es el esfuerzo epistémico de comprendernos, de acercarnos al mundo y darle un lugar de valía a todo aquello en lo que creemos y nos constituye. Sistematizar el aprendizaje

en un cuerpo de obra no es delimitar su perímetro o explicar sus consecuencias, antes bien darle convicción de sentido a un estudio programático que ha devenido obra y que se ha configurado como un objeto discursivo en una sociedad que la interpela.

La producción de un texto de reflexión, en el caso de Elisa, Christa y Diego, ha sido el poner en rigor intuiciones teóricas, deseos cotidianos, trabajos estéticos, prácticas artísticas que abran vocabulario e insten a la porfía de la pertinencia, pero no sólo en términos de obra sino antes bien en términos discursivos porque ello ha permitido que los saberes dialoguen y finalmente se derramen.

Partially CloudY. A search of meaning.

Creative processes are developed in a mysterious way. It is not that they are exempt of stringency, but they are producen in the boundaries that disarm reason, comprehension, luck and work.

It is that the vertex that configures edges out an artits which is hard to define, therefore not less pungent, less accurate, less effective. That is why the effort of systematize it in an academis structure seems the counterproductive daring of controlling the escense of what is wanted lively and resolved. As if to the ilussion that the wizzard proposes to us we answer with the writting of the trick, as if the secret desire of love we light up.

And it is possible that some of that have everything of this, but also, and mostly, the epistemic effort of selfunderstanding, of getting closer to the world and give a place of value to all of what we believe and make us. Systematize learning in a production body is not delimit its borders or explain its consequences, but give

it sense of conviction to a pragmatic study that has become the production and has configured it as a discursive object in a society that challenges it.

The production of a reflective text, in the case of Elisa, Christa and Diego, has been put into rigor theoretical intuitions, everyday wishes, esthetic work, artistic practices that spread the vocabulary and urge to the obstinacy of relevance, but not only in terms of the production, but also in discursive terms, because that has allowed that the knowledge discuss and finally spill.

abstract Detrimento es una serie de fotografías cuya problemática surge a partir del concepto de identidad –sociocultural– de nuestro país, enfocada en las costumbres como construcción que deviene de determinados sistemas de control aplicados en un territorio local.

Esta obra se desarrolla principalmente en la ciudad de Concepción delimitando el centro de la ciudad como eje central.

En Detrimento se reflexiona, desde una mirada irónica, sobre el límite que inscribe una costumbre como buena y como mala, es decir, distinguiéndose entre las que cuentan con aprobación social y aquellos factores de identidad clasificados como molestos, a partir de ciertos códigos de convivencia o “deber ser” que se instala en la población por distintos medios de control.

Para tensar dicha problemática, se presentan ciertos sistemas de control desde de la apropiación estética de la encuesta, que se exponen en el cuerpo

de obra como una instalación gráfica que se conjuga con las fotografías, a partir de preguntas seleccionadas de encuestas reales provenientes de instituciones como el INE (específicamente el Censo), casas comerciales, bancos y servicios públicos. La encuesta se revela como un medio esgrimido para controlar como convivimos, puesto que a través de sus preguntas se esboza qué se debería contestar. Así, se evidencia cuáles son las costumbres que aceptadas cuáles de ellas serían indeseables, y a su vez, la necesidad de controlar estos últimos por los medios cuestionados.

abstract Detrimento is a series of photographies whose problems are developed from the concept of -sociocultural- identity of Chile, focused in traditions as construction that becomes from different control systems applied in a local territory. This productions is developed mainly in the city of Concepcion, delimiting downtown as central axis.

Detrimiento reflects from an ironic point of view, about the limit that fallas a tradition as good or bad, that is to say, distinguishing among the ones that count with social aprobation and those identity factors clasified as annoying, from certain coexisting codes or “should be� that are installed in the population by different means of control.

To tighten such problem, those control system are presented from the esthetic apropiation of the poll, which are exposed in the body of the production as a graphic instalation that conjugates with the photographies, from question selected after real polls coming from

institutions as the INE (specifically the census), shopping centers, banks and public services. The poll is revealed as a mean wielded to control how we coexist, because of through its questions it is outlined what should be answered. That is how it is evidenced which are the traditions that count with social approval, which of them would be factors of undesirable identity, and in turn, the need of control these last tones by the media in question.

abstract Anomalía es una propuesta de dibujo que mediante la variabilidad de sus propiedades materiales y formales en corelación con la narrativa, constituye una reflexión sobre la dualidad caos-orden como condición del ser humano, ligada a las incertidumbres que sobrelleva en el territorio de la cotidianidad. En tanto narración, se desarrolla a través de eventos autobiográficos relativos al terremoto en Concepción del año 2010, enfatizando mediante distintos grados de control material y formal, y diferentes formas de composición, aquellas experiencias donde las percepciones de caos u orden resultan más evidentes.

El concepto de la propuesta surge a partir de la inherencia entre las nociones mencionadas (caos y orden), desde su origen simbólico en la mitología griega hasta interpretaciones contemporáneas como la Teoría del Caos, que esencialmente define a este último como la imprevisibilidad en sistemas ordenados (patrones) dados en el transcurso del tiempo. En este caso,

dicha situación se visibiliza tanto en el sistema cotidiano como en el dibujo, que se proyectan y se realizan en el tiempo en base a determinadas estructuras, a la vez que se ven intervenidos por factores ajenos a ellas que les hacen impredecibles.

Desde un enfoque propiamente estético, se propone la dualidad en cuestión como estrategia gráfica. Esto, en tanto se reconoce la posibilidad de manipular las distintas variables del tratamiento plástico para estructurarle desde procedimientos ordenados o caóticos, según sea la intención u objetivo expresivo. Se enfatiza principalmente en la utilización de variables caóticas como recurso gráfico del que se ha tomado conciencia en la contemporaneidad, tensándoles con las estructuras de representación “realista”, en función de interpretaciones visuales más simbólicas (como la espontaneidad del gesto orgánico y la mancha de carbón, en contraste al dibujo cuidadosamente calculado y la precisión del grafito, entre otras dinámicas visuales).

abstract Anomalía is a drawing proposal that using the variability of its properties and formals in co relation with the narrative, composes a reflection about the duality of order-chaos as a human condition, tied to the uncertanties that takes in the field of dailyness. On the other hand, narration developes through autobiographical events related to the 2010 earthquake in Concepción, emphasizing media different degrees of material and formal control, and different forms of composition, those experiences where the perceptions of order or chaos result more evident.

The concept of the proposal comes out after de inheritance between the notions mentioned (chaos and order), from its symbolic origin in the Greek mythology to contemporary interpretations as the Chaos Theory, which essentially defines this last one as the impredictability in ordered systems (patterns) given throughout time. In this case, such situation its seen at the everyday system as well as in the

drawing, which are projected and done in time in base of determined structures, at the moment that they are controlled by external factors which make them impredictable.

From a properly esthethic focus, duality is proposed as a graphic strategy. This is recognized as the possibility of manipulate the different variables of plastic treatment to structurize it from ordered to chaotic procedures, according to the intention or expressive objective. It is emphazied mainly in the use of chaotic variables as a graphic source from which it has been taken consciousness of contemporaneity, tensing them in counterposition to the structures of “realistic” representation, in function of more symbolic visual interpretations (as spontaneity of the organic gesture and the coal stain, in contrast with the carefully calculated drawing and the presition of graphite, among other visual dynamics).

abstract “Hablamientos” es un proyecto que pone en evidencia la relación entre el significante y el significado en el lenguaje popular chileno por medio de la grafica.

Bajo este objetivo la obra se configura como una serie de caricaturas creadas en la literalidad del habla coloquial de nuestro país, jugando con la diferencia existente entre lo que se dice y lo que se quiere decir. La exageración y la literalidad son herramientas de las que se vale la propuesta para llegar a su cometido, como también el trabajo de observación respecto a los habitantes del Gran Concepción que permite la elaboración de personajes reconocibles a lo largo de Chile. Al mismo tiempo, las caricaturas cumplen la labor social de entregar mensajes que surgen desde la opinión popular hacia las instituciones mediante el lenguaje común.

En la propuesta el dibujo se desplaza de los soportes comunes, como el papel o el libro, y funciona como instalación en el espacio provocando un recorrido y una experiencia tridimensional en la

sala de exposición, para aprovechar la dinámica en el espacio por medio de la anamorfosis, construyendo, en ocasiones, la imagen en la mirada del espectador. La fotografía postal en la obra, tanto como objeto y como imagen, funciona también como un soporte para la caricatura, situándola en lugares socialmente reconocidos como cara de alguna institucionalidad, cargándola con un mensaje de contenido social usando el simulacro como agente de incertidumbre, en tanto es fotografía, se plantea como un testimonio fiel de la realidad, inalterable, conectando la caricatura con su contenido implícito al espacio retratado, criticándolo y temporalizando el mensaje.

El proyecto es entonces, una obra plástica en base al dibujo que se articula como instalación y fotografía, aludiendo a la identidad criolla y sus expresiones particulares para elaborar un discurso de crítica y contenido social.

abstract “Hablamientosâ€? is a project that puts in evidence the relationship between the significant and the meaning in the popular chilean language media graphic. Under this target the production is configured as a series of cartoons creted in the literacy of the coloquial speaking of our country, playing with the existant difference between what is said and what is wanted to be said. The exageration and literacy are tools in which the proposal takes stando to reach its objective, as also the work of observation regarding dhe inhabitants of El Gran ConcepciĂłn, which allows the elaboration of recognizable character across Chile.

At the same time, the cartoons meet a social work of delivering messages that come from the popular opinion of the institutios media common language.

In the proposal, the drawing moves out from the common supports, as paper or book, and works as an instalation in space provoking a tridimensional route and experience in the exposition room, to take advantage of the dynamic in

the space throughout anamorphosis, building, time to time, the image in the looking of the spectator. The postal photography in the production, as much as object and as image, works also as a support for cartoons, placing it in socialy recognizable spots, like the face of any institutionality, loading it with a message of social content using the simulation as agent of uncertainty, as is photography, it sets as a loyal testimony of reality, unalterable, connecting the cartoon with its implicit content to retarded space, critizicing it and temporalizing the message.

The project is the, a plastic work based on the drawing that articulates as an instalation and photography, alluding to the creole identity and its particular expresions to elaborate a speech of critic and social content.

Christa Díaz nace en el año 1988 en Santiago, Chile. Es licenciada en Artes Visuales de la Universidad de Concepción con postítulo de Productora Visual. Fue seleccionada para participar en los talleres nacionales de capacitación de fotografía, impartido en la región del Bío-Bío por Andrea Josh, ésta actividad finalizó con la exposición de fotografía LIMIT(ROF)E (Agosto, 2012, Balmaceda Arte Joven). Fue seleccionada para el taller de fotografía 1+1=3 a cargo del Colectivo Concepción Fotográfica (C/CF) que finalizó con la publicación del Fotolibro MIRA, (Julio, 2012). La obra de Christa aborda como eje temático el concepto de Identidad, específicamente la identidad sociocultural de Chile, desarrollado desde la ciudad de Concepción. Su primera obra importante fue “Síndrome de Diógenes” (2010, Balmaceda Arte Joven) serie de fotomontajes de habitaciones saturadas por la repetición de objetos que cumplen la función de satisfacer necesidades básicas como hidratación, higiene y nutrición, y alude a lo sucedido en el terremoto (27 de Febrero). “Maldades” (2011 – 2012) es una serie que se vincula con el concepto de identidad emplazado desde situaciones domésticas proyectadas como delictuales pero no desde un discurso denunciante sino más bien articulado a ciertos arquetipos de conductas enlazadas a las fechorías, concibiéndolas desde una perspectiva ingenua que se activa a partir del humor (ironía) como herramienta discursiva. Por último Detrimento (2012 – 2013, Balmaceda Arte Joven) es una serie de fotografías que aborda las costumbres y hábitos que se observan en el comportamiento ciudadano de nuestro país, en correlación al deber ser estructurado por los sistemas de control social.

Christa Diaz was born in 1988 Santiago, Chile. She was graduated in Visual Arts at the Universidad de Concepción with postgraduate of visual producer.

Was selected to participate in the national workshops of photography training, taught in the Bio-Bio region by Andrea Josh, this activity ended with the photography exposition LIMIT(ROF)E (August, 2012, Balmaceda Arte Joven). Was selected for the photography workshop 1+1=3 in charge of collective Concepción photographic (C/CF) which finished with the photo book publication MIRA, (July, 2012). Christa’s work addresses as main topic the identity concept, specifically the sociocultural identity of Chile, developed from Concepción. Her first important work was “Síndrome de Diógenes” (2010, Balmaceda Arte Joven), a series of photomontages of saturated rooms for the repetition of objects that achieve the function of settle basic needs as hydration, hygiene and nutrition and allude to the occurred earthquake (February 27).

“Maldades” (2011 – 2012) is a series that ties with the identity concept located from domestic situations projected as transgressive but not from a complainant speech, but rather articulate to certain archetypes of behaviors linked to the felonies, conceiving from a naive perspective that is activated from mood (irony) as discursive tool.

Finally Detrimento (2012 – 2013, Balmaceda Arte Joven) is a series of photographs that addresses the customs and habits observed in the citizen behavior of our country, in correlation to the “must be structures” by all the systems of social control.

Elisa Echeverría nace en 1990 en Concepción, Chile. El año 2008 ingresa a la carrera de Artes Visuales en la Universidad de Concepción, donde obtiene el grado de Licenciada en Artes Visuales (enero 2012) y título de Productora Visual (enero 2013). Tanto de manera independiente como académicamente opta por desarrollar su trabajo mediante el lenguaje del dibujo tradicional, en complemento con la ilustración y la narrativa gráfica. En su obra se sugiere el valor de lo cotidiano, desde una perspectiva local tocada por miradas globales. Durante el 2011 realiza su primer trabajo personal relevante: Cotidianidad cinegráfica, esencialmente a partir de collage y dibujo vinculados a una apropiación de la estética fotográfica del cine y el formato de la televisión, que contrapone el problema de cultura de masas con distintos aspectos de la vida cotidiana. En el año 2012 desarrolla su proyecto más importante hasta la fecha: Anomalía (Galería Balmaceda Arte Joven, 2013, Concepción) y es invitada a la segunda edición del proyecto Masa Sicotrónica de la editorial Libros de Nébula, para publicar Anomalía en formato de novela gráfica en diciembre del mismo año.

Elisa Echeverría was born in 1990, in Concepcion, Chile. In 2008 he starts the major of Visual Arts at the Universidad de Concepción, where she gets the degree of Bachelor of Visual Arts (January 2012) and the title of Visual Producer (January 2013). Both independently and academically chooses for developing her work by means of the language of the traditional drawing, in complement with the ilustration and the graphic narration. In her production it is suggested the value of the everyday, from a local perspective touched by global looks. During 2011 she does her first relevant personal work: Cotidianidad cinegráfica, essentially from the collage and drawing linked to an apropiation of the photographic estethics of movies and television format, that contrasts the issue of mass culture with different aspects of everyday life. In 2012 she developes her most important work until now: Anomalía (Galería Balmaceda Arte Joven, 2013, Concepción) and it is invited to the second edition of the project Masa Sicotrónica of the book publisher Libros de Nébula, for publishing Anomalía in graphic novel format, in December this year.

Diego Echeverr铆a, graduate in Visual Arts (2011), was born in Concepcion in 1989 and later starts in the school of art of the Universidad de Concepcion in 2008 focusing mainly in the areas of drawing and graphic, woth emphasis on the everyday and in Chilean social interaction. He elaborates his first authorial project Este es mi trabajo (School of Art, Universidad de Concepci贸n, 2010) using the drawing as a variable support using hands as a working portrait. He gets his degree with the project Miedos (School of Art, Universidad de Concepci贸n, 2011) rethinking the horror stories from the everyday, exacerbating simple situations that on its singularity are loaded in emotional content. During 2012 and January 2013 developes his proposal named Hablamientos with emphasis in the coloquial language, caricaturing the double sense of the popular talking, returning it as a social criticism media the postal as object and testimony.

, DIEGO ECHEVERRIA

Diego Echeverría, Licenciado en Artes Visuales (2011), nace en Concepción el año 1989 y luego ingresa a la escuela de artes de la Universidad de Concepción el año 2008 enfocándose principalmente en las áreas del dibujo y la gráfica, con énfasis en lo cotidiano y la interacción social Chilena. Elabora su primer proyecto autoral Este es mi trabajo (Escuela de Artes, Universidad de Concepción, 2010) utilizando el dibujo como soporte variable usando las manos como retrato laboral.

Obtiene su grado con el proyecto Miedos (Escuela de Artes, Universidad de Concepción, 2011) replanteando los relatos de terror desde la cotidianeidad, exacerbando situaciones simples que en su singularidad se cargan de contenido emocional. Durante el año 2012 y enero del 2013 desarrolla su propuesta de titulo Hablamientos con énfasis en el lenguaje coloquial, caricaturizando el doble sentido del habla popular, devolviéndola a modo de crítica social por medio de la postal como objeto y testimonio.
