death, he found a drive to create more art. He began creating art that promoted safe sex and brought attention to the AIDS epidemic.

At the time not many people were talking about the crisis and those with AIDS were shunned from society. Haring ' s candidness about his sexuality and AIDS diagnoses humanized those with the disease and made people aware of the problem.

Though Keith Haring died in 1990, at the age of 31, his legacy lives on. His many philanthropic endevours are still remembered today. During the height of his fame, he teamed up with schools to give overlooked and low income students the opportunity to work with him on his art.

In 1989, Haring created the Keith Haring Foundation whose mission is to support " not-for-profit organizations that assist children, as well as organizations involved in education, prevention, and care related to AIDS.
